Small jobs welcome

"Panda Locksmith assisted us with rekeying and improving the security of our business following a staffing change. They arrived promptly, evaluated our setup efficiently, and clearly explained our options without any pressure to upgrade unnecessarily. The job was completed quickly and neatly, with a high level of professionalism throughout. Dependable service like this is rare — we’ll absolutely work with them again in the future."

"I purchased a new house and needed it re-keyed. Roger came out from Rekey Express. Roger is a true professional and I will never hesitate to hire him for home security needs or to recommend to family and friends. Roger will not try to sell you anymore than your needs or what your interested in. If you ask, Roger will take the time to explain or educate, so that you can make a decision on what level of rekeying or security that meets your wallet as well as your needs. Not only is he experienced and extremely knowledgeable as a locksmith, Roger was polite and respectful of my property and made sure the job was done completely to my satisfaction at what I thought was a very reasonable price. He explains very clearly and simply what your choices are and expected estimates and you make all the decisions. Simple"

"I was putting off this repair because I thought it would be a hassle, but was pleasantly surprised by the experience.  Called and talked to Peg on day one and described the lock repairs.  She and Ron came out the next afternoon.  They had all the materials they needed with them, and they did the repairs in a couple hours.  They were able to make new locks that fit the existing keys.  The hardware they installed matches the existing door hardware.  Very nice people + efficient and seems like they really know their stuff.  Will use their services again next time I need a locksmith. <br />"

"Tim was extremely responsive. Put in a request for quote and he responded within the first hour. We discussed the work over the phone and he provided a fair, competitive price based on our discussion. Work was booked for the next day. Arrived on time, Tim was quick, efficient and clean. He completed all the work as described and even corrected an issue with the way one of the door locks was originally installed. I highly recommend him for any/all locksmith work."

"I was too dumb to lock the car key in the car. It was a Luckily I still had the phone with me. I found Keyman Locksmith Service from Angies List using my phone and called him. He told me he's between 1 hour to 45 minutes away from me. He actually came within 40 minutes. When he arrived, I was inside a nearby building a block away. He called me and waited for me next to my car. He was very friendly, very professional, unlocked my car smoothly without any scratch. He didn't charge me for the extra miles he drove to where I was. The fee was reasonable. <br />"

FAQs for locksmith service projects in Houston, TX

The installation timeframe varies based on door preparation and lock complexity. For doors already prepared with appropriate holes, installation might take 15 to 30 minutes. New installations requiring drilling take one to two hours. First-time DIY installers should allocate additional time to ensure proper alignment and function. Professional locksmiths complete standard installations efficiently due to their specialized tools and experience.

Most residential doors can accommodate deadbolts, but certain door types present challenges. Solid wood and fiberglass doors accept standard deadbolt hardware, while metal doors require specialized drilling equipment. Hollow-core interior doors lack the structural integrity to properly support deadbolts without additional reinforcement. Doors should be at least 1⅜ inches thick to properly house standard deadbolt mechanisms.

Door warranties remain valid when deadbolts are installed according to the manufacturer's guidelines. However, improper installation that damages the door structure might affect warranty coverage.

Before modifying any door under warranty, review the documentation for specific limitations or requirements regarding hardware installation. Some manufacturers provide templates or guidelines for acceptable lock placement to maintain warranty protection.

Rekeying offers a more economical alternative to complete replacement when you need to change access, but the lock mechanism remains in good condition. This process involves reconfiguring the internal pins to work with a new key while retaining the existing hardware. For homeowners with multiple locks, rekeying provides the convenience of using a single key for all entry points while maintaining security.
