"Dan was punctual and polite and delivered exactly what I asked for. He really listened to me and gave me two closets that I really love. One closet was my own design and he executed it exactly as I envisioned it. Dan reinforced our bathroom towel bar and hung the new medicine cabinet as well as mounted several more wall hooks than anticipated, plus hanging two wall mirrors. Before he left, he quickly fixed the hinges on two of my kitchen cabinets at no charge. One of my favorite projects is the new barn door on our laundry room. We used them for a large job to frame, drywall, spackle and trim the attic plus fit doors for storage spaces. They were response to our request for a quote, provided a clear break-down so we had full transparency of the costs and could select the amount of work we wanted to do at this time. Juan and Isaias were very friendly but professional. Isaias was onsite through the framing, drywall, trim work and door installation. Juan checked in with us regularly and visited to check the progress and quality of the work. They are extremely customer focussed and wanted to ensure we were happy at every stage of the work. "Mike was a lifesaver. Previous contractor walked off the job after ripping up the tile floor in my bathroom, claiming I needed to get the whole subflooring redone. My wife and I were in a bind because we had already removed the toilet and vanity (and it is the only bathroom in our house). Found Pine Tree Flooring on Angie's List, and Mike came out that very evening. He assessed the problem as not nearly so severe, and was able to complete the entire installation in just a few days. He and his workers were punctual, polite, and professional. Mike even helped to install our new toilet and vanity once the flooring was finished. I wouldn't hesitate to call him again."

"Mel completely remodeled our farmhouse from top to bottom, including all of the plumbing, electrical, flooring, insulation, drywall, windows, doors, HVAC and exterior siding. Extensive repairs were needed to the framing and the floors had to be leveled. A portion of the roof had to be completely removed and replaced. We chose to add a bathroom as well. Mel was able to accommodate the changes we asked for during construction without any problems and the finished product exceeded our expectations. What started as a house that many people would have torn down is now like a brand new home again. "There were a lot of issues initially and I contacted Angie’s List and you were able to help us resolve it. What happened was that I got the deal, I wanted my daughter to use it because the kind of windows that they were going to install weren’t appropriate for my house and I felt that my daughter can profit from that under the circumstances better than I could. So she took the deal and it was not so good initially because apartments were not kept but it turned out fine because they got the windows done and they were pleased with them. They honored the price for two windows. The problem was with scheduling and that sort of thing. The issue was not really honoring the commitment to come at a certain time or to get the work done by a certain time. They did a good job of installation once they did it. I only had one contact with them and I wasn’t happy with that because he wanted to do a complete inspection of the house and I was focused on the windows not so much so on insulation. So I knew that wasn’t good for me and I wasn’t happy with that interaction but here again, in all fairness my daughter was satisfied with the interaction that she had."

"When American Jewel installed the door I gave them A grades as I thought they did an excellent job.  But after using the door for a few weeks I noticed the dead bolt didn't close completely, but only about 2/3, and also noticed the screen door was no longer aligned properly, so although it closed and looked right, the door was slightly off and it would no longer lock.  I called American Jewel and they scheduled the installer to return and make the minor corrections.  The installer did not show up.  When I called American Jewel again, they did not return my calls. I complained to Angie's List, and via their complaint resolution process American Jewel contacted me.  They were very apologetic and attributed it to a mix up, accepted responsibility and sent the installer to my home to make the minor corrections.  I would use American Jewel again, despite this hiccup, as my wife and I like the door they installed, feel we received excellent value, and ultimately American Jewel followed through on the minor problems I described and corrected them all."
