"First Joe Zuber wrote up a detailed bid. Unlike other bids I received it included a higher grade vinyl siding, some new plywood (strand board) where needed, and covering all fascia. Some gutters were also included which some bids did not. It was similar or better on price and included more work with higher grade materials. The work crew was very good. They put up with me watching and on occasion making a suggestion or a couple of times a correction admirably. The work was conscientious with excellent attention to detail. With a small house they used 29? siding and I have no seams. In one place I watched as it would have been easier to install a piece with a seam. Instead he did extra work to get it done without one. In another place there was a very small amount of wood damage which they replaced before putting up siding. There was some initial confusion on what old siding had to be removed and if the backer needed to be replaced. The foreman thought the backer board on one area (eave) would be OK. Initially I agreed (my mistake) but while it was strong the cardboard like material later proved to not be able to hold a nail. I then insisted it be replaced as originally intended and in the quote even though insulation had already been installed. After the foreman made a call to Joe Zuber to confirm, the work was removed, the backer replaced, and I was not given any trouble about it. Overall excellent work, excellent attention to detail, and the price included better materials and more work. The detailed quote was helpful and there were no unexpected charges. I usually do my own work so I was very nervous about having others do it. Some of the other bids did not seem to include work which was found to be needed; they would have had ?surprises.? While I would still recommend watching to make certain things go as expected, there were no surprises. The scale and height of the work made it impractical for me to do it myself and they did a better job than I could have even with far more time on my part."

"BENCHMARK CONTRACTORS never fail to deliver! I absolutely love the work they did installing my new Hardy Plank Siding. Hardy Plank can be a pain to put up because it's heavy AND fragile. The guys worked 5 days a week from 9:00-4:00pm breaking only for lunch. First, they removed the 25 year old wood that had rotted in some places on the house. Then they repaired the exterior wall siding over the fireplace. All the old guttering was removed from the house as well. New insulation was installed on the house. The guys followed Hardy Plank Siding guidelines during installation, making sure the siding stayed dry and free from moisture. During this time, I noticed a neighbor was also having her siding installed and in 2 or 3 days it was complete (and it didn't look so hot). BENCHMARK CONTRACTORS installed my new siding over a 2 week period. They took their time because quality matters to these guys. Quality of work is always more important than speed. That's what I love about these guys. You might pay a few extra bucks but the end result is ALWAYS worth it! I took several pictures of the exterior of my house and posted them. One look and you can tell my guys are professionals. Several months after my siding was installed, I drove to the old family farm in eastern Iowa. As luck would have it, I secured a beautiful set of old French doors from the farmhouse just before an upcoming demolition. I brought the doors home, leaned them against a bedroom wall, then called John Butler from BENCHMARK CONTRACTORS. I explained to John that I hit the jackpot and now I needed a hole cut in my bedroom wall to install these awesome French doors! Naturally, several questions come to mind whenever someone wants to cut a big hole in the wall. So John came to the house to check out the doors and assess the project. John indicated that the French doors were interior doors...but I wanted to use them as exterior doors (going from the master bedroom out into the back yard). I could visualize how beautiful these doors would look once they were installed in my master bedroom. Desperate, I looked at John and said, "do whatever you need to do John, but can you just make them work? Please???" And John Butler from Benchmark Contractors did just that! First the guys had to remove some of the new siding (sorry about that guys) and cut a new hole in the wall. I didn't have the original door frame, so they had to construct a new door frame. They installed the French doors and, in order to make them work in the bedroom, they added a set of custom made winter storm doors. The screen doors were made to match the narrow French doors. The paint on the exterior of the storm doors matched the new trim paint on the exterior of my house. I was totally pleased with the quality of the doors and the entire installation. The cost of the James Hardy siding for my house was $11,000. BENCHMARK CONTRACTORS installed the new siding and they built and framed-in my French doors from the family farm for $9,450. They siding is top quality and so was the installation. I do not anticipate ever having to replace it again. If you want average work, call your regular go-to guy. But if you've got a special project and you want it done right the first time, then call BENCHMARK CONTRACTORS located in Topeka, KS!

"Our kitchen remodel involved installing new cabinets, granite countertops, tile backsplash, under the cabinet lighting, refinishing wood floors, performing some relatively minor plumbing and electrical work, installing a new gas range, new microwave, and two new wall ovens, and re-installing our existing dishwasher and fridge.  Overall we are very pleased with our experience with this company.  We primarily worked with Randy, who is in change of sales, Elizabeth, who was the designer, and Rex, who coordinated the renovation.  We had very little contact with Paul, the owner.  Everyone we worked with was extremely professional.  We were especially impressed with Elizabeth, who did a great job listening to what we wanted and designed a kitchen that is both beautiful and functional and fit exactly with the style of our home and our tastes.  She made the process of picking out cabinets, granite, and tile so easy, and her attention to detail made a big difference.  The venders that this company uses are all excellent.  All of the workers that came to our home were respectful, professional, clean, punctual, and talented at their craft. 
The remodel itself took about 5 weeks to complete.  We liked how the company uses a detailed online calendar to communicate what will be worked on each day.  We also liked how this company has a cleaning lady come and dust out the cabinets and clean up the kitchen at the completion of the project.  Any large home remodeling project will have its' problems, we only had a few bumps along the way.  There were some spots in the wood floor that needed to be refinished, and a couple cabinets that needed adjustments, and our kitchen faucet needed to be fixed - these were all taken care of in a timely manner and to our satisfaction.  We also experienced a discrepancy in the final invoice (just like a previous reviewer experienced), but this was corrected after we pointed it out.
Overall, we are very happy with the results and we would definitely recommend this company for any remodeling project.
