"I have worked with Presidential several times before, so left a key for the technician to come in and work since I wanted the AC fixed quickly and was not able to be at home any day that week. Everything was fine, except that I had described the problem and suggested that I thought the thermostat needed to be replaced, but when the technician came out he did not have a replacement thermostat on his truck. Also, I had told the person I spoke with by phone that I had already tried changing the batteries, but apparently this did not get recorded because the technician initially concluded that probably the batteries in the thermostat needed changing, and he didn't have any (double A batteries) in his truck either. This was a bit frustrating, but on the other hand they ordered the new thermostat immediately and returned and installed it the next day and didn't charge for the second visit, so basically I would say the service was excellent."

"It was a superb experience. From the visit by Bruce the sales representative to the installation day to the follow-up from Petro, every single person we interacted with was helpful and professional. When Bruce arrived to do the assessment, we spent time going over the heating needs in the house. After a thorough inspection and measurement of the house, we sat down. The installation day was just terrific- the entire work crew that showed up were everything I would hope to find: Upbeat, informative, hard-working, focused. Every other company was quoting me $7k+ to replace the system but it turns out to be a leak in the line set between the 3rd floor and the roof! We had a new line set installed and I spent $2550 in total! The crew was very professional and worked extremely had in the hottest weather to get the job done, too!"

"I have had a service contract with McCrea Heating and Cooling since I purchased my condo unit new 7 1/2 years ago which included 2 maintenance visits a year. My current contract expired yesterday so I called to renew my service contract and upgrade from "Bronze" to "Silver." The representative took my charge card information over the phone. I asked if the contract was in effect as of today. They said "yes." Then I tried to schedule a service call (my unit was serviced a little over a month ago and now the condo wasn't cooling.) I was told then that the Silver Contract would NOT be in effect after all. The difference in price between Bronze and Silver is the cost of a diagnostic visit so they were getting the money one way or another. My long time history with the company did not persuade them to honor the contract I had just paid for. They wanted to charge me $98 to have my problem diagnosed under the Bronze contract that I pointed out was already expired. I was told the representative "misspoke" and should have told me they would have to send out someone to determine whether the furnace they have been maintaining for the past 7 years (with the most recent service call just a month ago) would "qualify" for the Silver plan. So, I cancelled the order for the Silver Plan. I called another company who came out for $30 and determined the problem was a clogged condensation drain. This drain was supposed to have been "blown out" when the regular maintenance was done by McCrea just a month ago, but obviously was not. The water was backed up in the drain pipe and filled the pan under the furnace/AC unit which turned off the AC. Now that everything is working again, I am seeking a different maintenance service plan provider. McCrea has competitive service contract prices, but if they have no customer loyalty, and the maintenance work is not done properly, maybe it's a question of "you get what you pay for.""
