"Based on Angie's List recommendations and reviews, we contacted LDS to evaluate our windows and repair a failed gas-filled window pane in our master bedroom.  After an initial visit to evaluate the condition of our windows, inspect the gash in our stucco, and take measurements.  They arrived on-time and immediately went to work.  Ronnie and his crew kept us informed at every step.  The bedroom window is is a large round porthole shape with eight "pie slice" pieces of glass.  One had failed and turned colors.  Ronnie came out earlier, took a pattern of the window and when he returned to do all the work, release it seamlessly.  In addition, and at no additional charge, they also repaired the rot on another of our bathroom window. There were in and out in less than 90 minutes.  They cleaned up after their work and there was no indication that had ever been there.  The staff was courteous and polite and took off their shoes without having to be asked to do so.  This was an excellent experience.

"The garage door wouldn't open and we didn't have the key to the side door. First, he arrived early (nice!) and successfully open the garage door. He diagnosed the problem as having a bad cable not the springs. He was done in half hour. The door has been working perfectly ever since. We will call them again to install the automatic garage door opener."

Communications were easy with the company owner Russ. The work began a few days later, and I didn't have to wait weeks for the new door as required by another door company. "First off, everyone we've dealt with has been professional, friendly, and courteous. We liked the reviews we saw in Angie's List and Murphy's installed a new sliding door for us in Nov 2014. One of our requests was it be "lightweight" and easy to slide. Well, it didn't seem that way when it was installed, but we were told to give it some time to loosen up. Nope. Still heavy and hard to open and close... 3+ years later. Next problem was the screen door with it. In Spring 2015 (when we needed it, since the door was installed in the winter), the screen door continuously came off its track. Don came out to fix it ("right") and it almost lasted until the end of the season. I spoke with Jimmy Murphy who runs the place... again, super nice and super friendly... but when I reached him to help... lots of delays, promises, etc. I kept putting it back on the track myself for short-term fixes. I called/texted in the Fall 2017 to have it fixed or replaced... no response. Called/Texted again in Spring 2018 and was told someone would be out to take care of it. No one. Another call and text promising to be there "next Tuesday." Nothin. I've had enough. Well meaning group, but lacks follow-through and, apparently, the ability to keep customers happy/satisfied. Hard to imagine that 20 minutes of their time and/or possibly $10-50 in parts will cost them my future business and possibly the loss of others' business (after reading this). Won't use again...."

"Fogarty was open to discussing a wide range of possible repairs/replacements.  He helped us pick a very nice replacement door and window set.  He also worked with us to address the little fit/finish issues that always arise during this type of project.  We were very satisfied with the quality of the work and with the relationship with him.

"We contacted Hansen Brothers on the recommendation of our roofers to install the electrical outlet for a roof heat cable and to discuss our front steps project. Until this point, it was difficult to get anyone to accept the front steps project. Masonry contractors would not handle cement and cement contractors would not handle masonry. We needed a general contractor to help and Hansen Brothers came highly recommended. Bob Hansen sent his son over to check on the electrical outlet needs and Bob came to assess the front steps project. He listened to my requests and introduced us to a metal worker who would fabricate the new handrails. We made a railing selection and then we discussed the timing to complete the project. In the interim, Bob's son Eric installed the roof power outlet and back door sconce satisfactorily. We started the big project of the steps replacement mid-September and it took several weeks to complete, there was much to coordinate to get this project done properly. Bob was in constant communication about the progress. We had a bit of a slow down waiting for the cement contractor to deliver the concrete, but once that happened, everything else came together. The final electrical pieces and masonry work were completed shortly after the steps were done.  Everything turned out beautifully!  Bob's experience and familiarity with Chicago homes was evident. He gave sound advice and provided some excellent suggestions with our projects. Our neighbors have also commented on how well things turned out. I would indeed contract with Hansen Brothers again for my home projects and will recommend Bob Hansen to my family and friends. I feel we have finally found a trusted general contractor who is responsive who takes pride in his work.

"While the work is incomplete as they they discovered the need to install a new plate leading to a larger outside drainage system that needed to be ordered. We feel confident in their completing the work on time as they have lived up to all other commitments on a timely basis. They were courteous and flexible with the payments as well. When all the work is completed we will revisit this site to update."
