"Rekeying was not completed or functional. Staff were inappropriate. Owner Leon was rude and would not complete or refund. Company was horrible and atrocious. Do not think about using. Bill's is much better locksmith."

"They were unable to program my key fob and would not refund the price they charged me. I now have a $160 key fob that does not work. Most of the cost was the programing fee. The key fob is $38 online. They charged me a fee for a service They could not complete and refused to refund."

"CAS was recommended to me by a solar panel company who has had experience with good and not so good roofers. CAS is a great roofer! So glad I went with them. Accurate quote, kind and hard working staff, very conscience of my property, clean up and schedule. I found them to be skilled and trustworthy. They go the extra yard to keep the reputation as the best roofer in town."

"Joe and his assistant were WONDERFUL. I called the day before and he was able to get me on his schedule within 24 hours, on a Saturday! His assistant (I apologize, I did not get his name) was so knowledgeable and they worked as a great team. They installed a deadbolt on my oak door (which is THICK and HEAVY and hard to drill through) and it looks and works perfectly. They also cleaned out the existing lock that was sticking. If I need any other locksmith work, he’ll be my first call."

"Tech arrived quickly, was very friendly, and proficient and was able to get the door open. Since the internal mechanism of the door handle was no longer functional, Pop-a-lock replaced it. Everything works really well and have had no problems since (the only strange part was that the new handle color does not come close to matching the rest of the hardware, but the price and quality of service was right!)."

FAQs for locksmith service projects in Albuquerque, NM

The installation timeframe varies based on door preparation and lock complexity. For doors already prepared with appropriate holes, installation might take 15 to 30 minutes. New installations requiring drilling take one to two hours. First-time DIY installers should allocate additional time to ensure proper alignment and function. Professional locksmiths complete standard installations efficiently due to their specialized tools and experience.

Most residential doors can accommodate deadbolts, but certain door types present challenges. Solid wood and fiberglass doors accept standard deadbolt hardware, while metal doors require specialized drilling equipment. Hollow-core interior doors lack the structural integrity to properly support deadbolts without additional reinforcement. Doors should be at least 1⅜ inches thick to properly house standard deadbolt mechanisms.

Door warranties remain valid when deadbolts are installed according to the manufacturer's guidelines. However, improper installation that damages the door structure might affect warranty coverage.

Before modifying any door under warranty, review the documentation for specific limitations or requirements regarding hardware installation. Some manufacturers provide templates or guidelines for acceptable lock placement to maintain warranty protection.

Rekeying offers a more economical alternative to complete replacement when you need to change access, but the lock mechanism remains in good condition. This process involves reconfiguring the internal pins to work with a new key while retaining the existing hardware. For homeowners with multiple locks, rekeying provides the convenience of using a single key for all entry points while maintaining security.
