"He was very friendly, and looked at everything. However, when i asked for an estimate on the repair/replacement, he quoted me a price that was $1,300.00 above the next estimate I got through a Home Depot certified company using the same equipment (Home Depot spec'd the equipment to similar or better specs on the estimate this fellow gave me).  Because of that extreme price difference, I'm not likely to ever use this company again.  Their labor costs must be very high relative to the other companies I spoke to.

"I can't say enough about the team at Old Skool HVAC. I learned of this organization from a close friend who had work done and recommended them. Frank is a great guy. On time, professional, knowledgeable, and his team is a reflection of this as well. They were always on time, on schedule, clean, and very personable. They finished our job a little early, and during the first heat wave just about week or two ago, our house never felt better. Great service, quality, and pricing. It's funny, with central AC, you never really know that it's hot out until you leave the house and come home. It's during this first transition that I realized how quiet and effective of a system that was installed. If you are looking for any form of HVAC work in your home of business, I'd recommend contacting this group of professionals."

"Ira did an excellent job - my attorney was impressed with his home inspection report. I was very pleased with his work - not only did he do the inspection but he pointed out a lot of things I should be aware of as a home owner. Again I was extremely pleased with Ira."

"I purchased the Green Heating and Cooling furnace inspection on Angie's List. They were prompt and responsive, showed up on time and ran the furnace through the inspection process to ensure it was functioning correctly and ready for winter (I've had some issues before and this time I decided to be proactive). If you're someone who usually waits until the last minute to find out something is wrong (as I usually am) this is a good deal. Buy it, put in the available times and they will reach out and show up on time."

"They do the checks for free. Mostly safety checks. Making sure there's no leaks anywhere. They do really well. They are punctual and show up on time. If they say they will be there at a certain time, they are there."

"via Ed did a full audit of the quality of insulation in our home &
quickly discovered what we had suspected. Namely, that there was one
room in which the insulation was inadequate, which was due to oversight
by the builder of the home eight years ago.  His team and he performed
the work efficiently, professionally and beyond what was initially
anticipated at no extra cost.  By that evening, it was clear that the
problem with that one room had been solved with this intervention.
We are very pleased.

FAQs for home energy audit projects in Camden, NJ

To prepare for a home energy audit, begin by preparing your space. Clear any obstructions around the attic, basement, ducts, crawl space, appliances, windows, and doors. Gather all your energy bills from the last year and information on home upgrades if you’ve made any changes. If you’ve previously had an audit done, include that information as well.

Finally, be prepared to discuss any questions or concerns you have. If you’ve noticed a rise in your energy bills, hot or cold areas in your home, or unusual sounds from ducts or appliances, make a list to discuss with your auditor.

How often you should get an energy audit depends on the age and condition of your home. New homes with no issues are recommended to get an audit every five years, while older homes should audit every two to three years. If you’ve noticed any changes to your energy bills or other areas of concern, you should get an audit as soon as possible. It’s also a good idea to conduct an audit if you’ve made changes or upgrades to your home, such as installing a new furnace, windows, or doors.

An energy audit takes three to four hours to complete. Your auditor sets up testing equipment, conducts an exhaustive walk‑through inspection, and performs all required evaluations to identify energy loss points. The audit follows a systematic review that includes visual assessments, mechanical tests, and detailed documentation, resulting in a precise report of improvement recommendations.

You can schedule a home energy audit any time of the year—it all depends on what's convenient for you. That said, timing it right can help you tackle issues before they impact your comfort and bills. If you live in a colder climate and want to avoid high heating costs in the winter, getting an audit in the summer allows you to make improvements before the temperature drops. On the contrary, if hot summers are your concern, a spring audit can help you stay cool and save on air conditioning.

To find a qualified home energy auditor, start by searching for local energy auditors with great reviews and recognized certifications like those from the Building Performance Institute (BPI). These credentials ensure they're qualified and can help you qualify for rebates. Don't hesitate to ask about their audit methods and schedule a consultation to see if they're a good fit for your needs. Doing some research upfront helps you get top-notch service and maximize your energy efficiency.

Once you have your energy audit report, it's time to take action. Review the recommendations and prioritize the upgrades that make the most sense for your home and budget. Reach out to experienced pros to get quotes and discuss how they can help. By making these improvements, you'll boost your home's energy efficiency, lower your utility bills, and enjoy a more comfortable living space.
