"The owner and his team were highly professional. We were very impressed with the mason who fixed some of the bricks at the base of the fireplace inside the home. Very detailed work. The owner came for the estimate and was very detailed in providing us with two alternative approaches (rebuilding the large chimney or tearing it down and sealing the roof) and explaining "why" the current leaking existed. He set expectations up front for when and how the work would take place and this is very important when working with service organizations (contractors!)."

"Bob was outstanding. Day one he completely demolished the old chimney and removed all of the bricks and wrapped up the existing chimney flu. He returned the next day and was wrapping things up when I returned home from work. The results look perfect. So much, that a neighbor asked me for his name because he said I have the best chimney on the block now. His price was very fair from other companies, he wasn't the cheapest or the most expensive. He was very communicative via text and phone. Great experience. Plus he has a coupon on Angie's List. He was also able to match the current brick on my home."

"I purchased a "Big Deal" combo on Angie's List for air duct and dryer vent cleaning. Scheduling an appointment was easy. The technician arrived on time and performed both services without issue. He took extra time to diagnose an issue with my dryer vent that was the result of a partially disconnected pipe that required additional repairs, but prevented a situation that might have ended up causing a fire."

"Michael Nelson and his assistant Josh did a fantastic and highly professional job with our entire Great Room ceramic tile installation. Michael’s skill and experience promoted beautiful transition ideas and results while mating the new flooring to the surrounding surfaces, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. He also did a stellar job in cutting and installing travertine stone to our newly designed fireplace, and readily worked with me to accommodate a tricky hidden electrical outlet. Their final clean up was also excellent. Both Gentlemen were always prompt, courteous, and professional, as well as friendly. We definitely will seek their services for any future plans."

"Scheduling was pretty poor, with serious communication drops and failures, within the organization. In the end the workers they sent were adequate. The main mason was fairly skilled and responsive to our desires, if not pleased with our suggestions. The secondary worker was not skilled nor very helpful. On the whole the hearth looks good, not "terrific". I had to finish one area of drywall they left unfinished, and unpainted, and had to touch up several areas. They were contracted to complete all finish work. My tools had to be used to complete the job, as the worker did not follow a good plan and was left having to correct tile areas (which all should have been installed after the hearth was built, we felt, not before the hearth was started). His tools and skills would have left a pretty unfinished look to the project. BUT, he did respond to our suggestions and was able to pretty much finish the job. He was , for the most part, though overbooked by his employer, able to nearly complete the job in a satisfactory manner. Due to their inability to get the products they were to install, we are still waiting for completion of the fireplace refacing internally."

Bricks cut out to replace. This is the proper way of replacing damaged bricks. Some use mortar to cover the damage, or stone veneer without fixing the actual problem. If your bricks are damaged, request that they be cut out and replaced completely. If your mason says it can't or won't do it, look for another mason!
Unfortunately finding a perfect match for the brick can be difficult. In this case the original bricks are stone face 11 1/2". There were no 11 1/2" stone face bricks that were a close match so the customer chose bark face bricks of the same color. It's not a perfect match but with time and weathering the color will be identical.

"Chimney flues were replaced. Brick at the top of chimney was replaced - matches nicely.  Front steps were rebuilt with new brick and using the original sandstone tops. Mortar was dyed to match existing mortar.  Great job!

FAQs for brick or stone fireplace installation projects in Cuyahoga Falls, OH

A chimney liner lasts between 15 and 25 years, depending on the material. Aluminum liners last about five years, while cast-in-place liners can last up to 50 years. Regular professional inspections can reveal signs of deterioration, such as cracking or crumbling chimney walls, ensuring necessary repairs are made to maintain structural safety and efficiency.

Yes, a chimney liner is essential. It prevents dangerous heat and toxic gases from reaching surrounding materials, reducing fire risks and structural damage. A well-installed liner safeguards your masonry, directs harmful emissions outside, and enhances heating efficiency. Regular inspections and cleaning maintain your chimney liner’s performance, keeping your home secure and energy-efficient.

Creosote buildup occurs when burning wood releases tar that adheres to the chimney liner, posing a fire hazard. Regular professional chimney inspections and cleanings by qualified chimney sweeps will effectively manage creosote deposits, preventing dangerous conditions and costly repairs.
