"The owner is very professional. He clearly explained the options and identified another potential danger area. We opted to remove the chimney as the cost to rebuild (above the roof line) would have been $8,800. The team was courteous and professional."

"When some workers were on my roof fixing a broken shingle, they noticed that the bricks on my chimney looked like they were crumbling.  I called Thompson's Masonry to get an estimate of repair work.  Bob Thompson came out right away, and recommended a complete chimney rebuild.  He also gave me an estimate for replacing some damaged bricks and tuckpointing and sealing the brickwork on the front of my house, which was in pretty bad shape.  When I spoke to Bob, he agreed to take off $100 if I had both done at the same time, which I really appreciated since they were both fairly big expenses.  (He also offered to honor the estimate for the brickwork on the front next spring if I decided to just do the chimney and wait on the rest, but I decided to go ahead with both).  Bob was great - friendly and professional.  He called me back right away, answered all of my questions, and showed up when he said he would.  He was able to match the bricks and mortar color of the existing brickwork.  He even fixed the tuckpointing on my front steps, which another group had "fixed" (badly) in the spring, so it matched.  Everything looks great.  I would definitely call him again if I need any masonry work done.

"Look no further! Century Chimney saves the day, Tyler and Zach arrived on time and kept my house as clean as it was before they got here. They used a camera to inspect the inside of the liner, which no other sweep had done before. They found exposed wood that was charred, and an approximately 6" hole in the middle of the system! I had been using this fireplace for several years before I met the guys from Century!! My last sweep didn't find any of these issues. Tyler and Zach just may have saved our lives. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!"

"Costello was highly recommended to us by 2 different sets of friends that had hired them to install patio pavers. Now that our job is done, we are very glad that we followed their advice! We worked with Kevin Costello and, from our first interaction, he was courteous, friendly, professional and responsive. Our project was an open-sided covered patio with an outdoor fireplace. It consisted of a 15' x 25' vaulted roof that tied into our house with an outdoor fireplace along one of the long sides of the roof structure. Costello was hired to install the floor of our covered patio. I truly wish that they could have done the entire project, but the carpentry and masonry aspect is outside the scope of their business. Because the floor was to be the last part of the project, Costello could not start until the other contractors involved had finished with their part of the project. What we did not anticipate is that Costello would end up being delayed by nearly 1 year...again, through no fault of their own. During that entire time span, Kevin was always available via phone, email and texting. When the weather finally cooperated enough to allow Costello to start on 04/22/19, their crew showed up promptly at 8:30 and got right to work. They truly operated like a well-oiled machine. I couldn't get over how quick and efficient they were and how much progress was made at the end of each day. I was also very impressed with the amount of time, attention and preparation that was paid to base of the patio (i.e. before a single paver was placed). It's no wonder they are able to offer a 10 year warranty...the foundation is rock solid. Again, our patio primarily consisted of a 15' x 25' rectangle with a smaller 5' x 8' rectangle attached to one end of the larger rectangle (so I could wheel my grill out from under the roof structure). For the most part, the patio was done by the end of the second day. The entire project was completely done in 3 days and also involved digging up and re-planting about 8 or 9 boxwood bushes. My wife and I (and the kids) were extremely impressed with Costello overall. They did an amazing job on the patio, re-planting the bushes, re-grading the parts of our yard that were torn up by their equipment (a natural part of the process) and then re-seeding with grass seed and covering with hay. Again, I really cannot emphasize enough how happy we were to have used Costello. We would absolutely recommend them to others. Truly a great company! Thank you Kevin and crew!!!"

A chimney liner lasts between 15 and 25 years, depending on the material. Aluminum liners last about five years, while cast-in-place liners can last up to 50 years. Regular professional inspections can reveal signs of deterioration, such as cracking or crumbling chimney walls, ensuring necessary repairs are made to maintain structural safety and efficiency.

Yes, a chimney liner is essential. It prevents dangerous heat and toxic gases from reaching surrounding materials, reducing fire risks and structural damage. A well-installed liner safeguards your masonry, directs harmful emissions outside, and enhances heating efficiency. Regular inspections and cleaning maintain your chimney liner’s performance, keeping your home secure and energy-efficient.

Creosote buildup occurs when burning wood releases tar that adheres to the chimney liner, posing a fire hazard. Regular professional chimney inspections and cleanings by qualified chimney sweeps will effectively manage creosote deposits, preventing dangerous conditions and costly repairs.
