Our chimney was separating from the house (result of last year's earthquake) by millimeters, but it was a safety issue. He explored alternatives with us, and re-build was the best, safe option. His estimate came in lower than two others. The crew worked steadily, used bricks that were a virtual match, and the owner paused to answer any questions that we posed. This is a several-day, messy job, but the crew spent two half-days cleaning debris, raking, inspecting, and cleaning some more. All A's. Finest Chimney has our unqualified recommendation."

"The job went fine. They also did follow up. They were okay. We had a part that was under warranty going out. It took the guy couple of weeks to replace because he didn't have that particular part on hand. The guy who owns the company was little spacey. I would recommend them. Once he finally got the part, he came out and installed on the actual initial installation of the stove. They came and told they were going to come. It took longer than they told it would. "The repointing work was generally done well. Old mortar and bricks were removed and new bricks were installed. The craftsmanship was excellent. However, the color of the mortar used differed from that in the rest of the brickwork, so at present it stands out. Sixpenny said to wait a period and then re-evaluate whether any change should be made. I would rate this as an "A" but for the color difference in the mortar that was not expected. The chimney cap work was done well."

"The owner of Stone Depot, Nick Papas, offers hands on professional service.   I am a realtor, so great service is part of my professional standard and I appreciate it in others.  Nick was always available by phone and was very responsive.  I was nervous about selecting my granite, and I changed my mind at the last minute.   Nick was very gracious and allowed me to select another granite that I preferred. His team arrived for the installation on time and did an outstanding job.  The was a minor issue with caulking, and Nick sent someone out the next day to finish it off.  I could not be more happy with my granite and Stone Depot.  I was advised to personally select my slab of granite - which I did.  All granite is different, so that was good advice.  The location for selection was in Sterling VA, which was great for me since I live in VA.
I also checked out Counter Intelligence, but found the salesman was not very concerned and did not go the extra mile to get my business.  I  had to drive all the way to Silver Spring MD to look at samples of granite slabs.  That was to far to go.  Also, their price quote was higher.  The smaller company atmosphere at Stone Depot was a much better choice for me.  I highly recommend them!

"I could not get the pilot to stay lit and thought I needed a tune-up so I scheduled an appointment to claim the deal. Vitaliy called to say he would be late because his truck broke down. He showed up and diagnosed the problem as a worn out pilot assembly. He called his supplier to try to get the part but they did not have it. He told me he would track it down elsewhere and call me back. He called back twice--once to let me know he had found the part and once to schedule a time to install it. He showed up on time and did the work cleanly and quickly. He showed me the worn out part. The cost of the part was $204.86 which was more than he charged for his labor. He cleaned the glass and put it all back together with no mess. Fireplace is working great again."

"I received A+ service from Granite Works. I met Bruno Valente, one of the co-owners, on my first visit. He was very friendly and helpful, not pushy like some sales people. The slab I liked the best was marked sold.  In a follow up discussion with Bruno, my brother found out that the sister to that slab was available. Bruno gave it a rating of 11 on a scale of 1 to 10, and he was right.  Bruno held the slab for a few days until I could get there. Purchased it that day, and he held it for 5 months at no charge. Many companies my brother called on my behalf would not hold a slab longer than 30 days.
When my brother was visiting from out of town, they were kind enough to bring it out of storage so that he could see it.  That day, we met Art Rivera who spent considerable time with me us and provided invaluable advice about a new counter I was adding.  He also provided other design suggestions on the backsplash and paint color, which I followed with great results. That was an extra bonus I didn't expect. So, if Art gives you advice, you should definitely take it.
The templater, Glauber (hope this is the correct spelling), was extremely detail oriented and communicated well with my carpenter and his assistant. He made a suggestion for the end cap of the new counter and the handrail behind it that made it a true work of
art.  Gus Valente (co-owner), with assistance from Eduardo (stone cutter), did a great job of deciding what parts of the stone would go where in my kitchen and fireplace.  They have an amazing eye. I was so impressed by their finding parts of the slab in totally different areas that would best connect at the seams. The installers were terrific and that process went very smoothly. I have 2 seams that are barely noticeable.  Their work in the kitchen and my fireplace surround was impeccable.
Granite Works exceeded my expectations, and I'm very picky.  My counters are a work of art.
