"We moved into our house in the winter and found out that the 70 year old insulation was quite deteriorated and moldy in the fall. We decided to have the old insulation removed so that we could cut down on heating bills and get rid of the smell. I contacted several companies and interacted with Joe from Good Life as the salesperson. He was kind enough to come to our house twice as the scope of the project changed. Both times, he drafted the proposal right at the end of the visit. His professionalism and the quoted price convinced us to go with Good Life Energy Savers. On day 1, the first crew came to remove the old insulation from the attic and used open cell spray foam to insulate the basement rim joists. On day 2, a second crew came to apply blown-in fiberglass insulation in the attic. Please note that the material they use is not irritant at all. Both crews worked really hard and cleaned up very well after they were done. I was especially impressed with the job 1st crew did to remove the old insulation from the slopes on a cathedral ceiling. My only minor complaint is regarding the patch in the ceiling at the end of the job. The guys used paper tape and there were bubbles all around. I guess they were very tired at the end of the day. Initially, I was planning to paint the room myself to cover the patch. But after removing the paper tape (due to bubbles) and using fiber mesh tape and joint compound, I figured I wouldn't be able to smooth the edges of the patch perfectly and hired a professional. Overall, it is a great company that provides quality job at a reasonable price. With the new insulation, the furnace runs much less frequently and I am pretty sure the job will pay for itself very in a few years."

"It went really well. They came in immediately and sealed off the basement from the rest of the house (There's no door to the basement)). They also set up very large and powerful hepa-air-cleaning units which they kept running through the whole job and in fact until the industrial hygienist returned for post-testing after the job was completed. The manager Mike assured me that the job would be done with the utmost effort and care and that's exactly what happened. The main workers, Marcello and Israel were terrific, meticulous, hard-working, reliable, responsive to any concerns I raised. I really couldn't have asked for any more. The post-test results showed Zero spores of the two bad molds with high readings in the pre-job testing. It's a really nice feeling when people come in and do the job just as they promised to."

"Max Construction exceeded our expectations. He came into our home and advised us on what we needed to be repaired. We recently bought a home where the cabinet under the sink was completely rotted and molded as well as the wall behind it. He provided us with a clear and precise work order and the estimate was extremely fair and within our budget. We had other contractors come in that provided high estimates and wanted to use cheap material but not Max Construction. He used high end wood and installed the lazy Susan with a cabinet trash recycle bin pull out with soft close hinges. My wife was super satisfied and you all know a happy wife is a happy life. No job is to big or small with Max Construction so if you want your home remodeled or repaired without getting over charged hire Max. He knows what he is doing and will listen to your ideas and provide his expertise for you to have the home of your dreams. With all respect to all the contractors here on Angie's list I am going with Max with all of my home projects and will recommend him to my family as they are looking to remodel their homes as well. "I live in and own a 2-family home that has flat rook and that is located in the Bronx, NY. I live in the lower unit and my tenants live in the upper unit, which is right below the roof. Our current and previous tenants would often complain that the rental unit felt cold when the temperature outside fell and my wife said that even when the indoor temperature in that unit was high, the unit felt drafty, which can make the unit feel colder than it actually is as the heat escapes through the roof rapidly. A contractor who installed kitchen for us in that unit told us that our roof had absolutely no insulation- something he saw when he installed the exhaust for range hood. So last year, I decided to call this company for a quote. My hope was that insulating the roof would significantly decrease the release of heat, which would make the unit warmer and reduce airflow (i.e., drafts). When I called, a really nice receptionist answered the phone, took my information down, and answered a few questions, and told me that the owner, Joe, would call me back either the same day or the next. The reason for this is that Joe is usually out doing roof insulations himself. When Joe called back, I was quoted a price of $3.00/square foot, but decided not to go ahead at that time. He was very nice and polite and is willing to answer lots of questions. He seems really passionate about his work and will describe in pretty significant detail what he does. This year, we decided to pull the trigger so we called back and received a quote of $2.50/square foot- a savings of $500 to insulate our 1,000 square foot roof. As you can imagine, that made me happy. We spoke on Friday and set up an appointment for Wednesday (5 days later). Joe and one of his workers arrived with their truck at 7:30 am and were finished by 9:45 am. The process was so much faster than I could have imagined. And, they didn't even have to come inside the house! Joey and his worker used a 40-ft tall ladder to scale the front of the house (it's 3 stories high) and to take their equipment up to the roof. Once up there, they used an electric saw to make a hole (they might have made 2) through which to blow in the insulation. The noise from the saw lasted about 10-15 minutes, after which the work they were doing was relatively quiet. I was actually really amazed at how non-intrusive the whole thing was and how quickly the job was completed. Joey made sure to show me exactly what kind of insulation he was using and gave me written materials about the product he was using (blow-in fiberglass). If Angie's List lets me update this review, I will definitely write back once we have experienced the insulation in cold weather to describe how well it is working."

"We moved into our new home three weeks ago and a home energy audit was on top of my agenda.   We had done one at our previous home and quickly saw improvements in our utility bills.
I suspect that we will see the same given the thoroughness the three member team showed.  They spent close to 3 hours plugging holes, replacing light fixtures and developing suggestions where we could see further savings.  In addition, they provided a number of rebates for added insulation, appliance replacement etc.  I would recommend to anyone.

"They arrived on time. They offered assistance with moving the furniture out of their work area. The workers made sure to cover the floors and all the furniture before they began their work. The work was completed in two days as predicted. They forgot to include one of the entryways ceilings In the contract. I mentioned this to the worker and after a phone call to Ari they proceeded to do the work. Although I would have liked to see Ari at some point during the insulation process, I believe the work was done well. We will wait for this coming winter to give our final verdict.
