"Dan H. Is the consummate professional designer! He listens to my ideas and got to know me so as to help guide the design concepts. Dan took my picture that I saw on Instagram for the inspiration and turned it into an amazing and stunning creation. His knowledge of design and construction is so forward thinking. We were kept informed every step of the way. It’s 3/4 completed because I couldn’t stop at the kitchen but expanded to several other areas. He has a top notch crew who are careful and do everything they can to keep things clean. I highly recommend this designer and will add on to my recommendation once it is totally completed."

"Best team EVER! New metal roof with solotubes and skylights, vents, etc, two room addition, car port, covered entrance patio, new deck, everything else brought up to code. Started on time, stayed on the clock, completed well within the expected calendar, everything solid like a rock. AND they were always smiling, happy in their work. Courteous, lovely workers, cleaned up after the job was complete.. Good pricing, too -- worth every dime. I'll never use another builder."

"We recently relocated to Bethesda from NYC and bought a home that needed plenty of work (two room remodels, fireplace redo, painting of house, replacing insulation, lighting needs, etc.). I interviewed 5 different contractors for my home project. I was impressed w the transparency of their bid as well as the professionalism of the contractor. I could not be more satisfied. The project came in on budget and on time. The team was careful, kind and thorough. They worked beautifully w my designer and were flexible w changes. Mike has a keen design eye and would offer advice when needed. Lastly, all this work was done during covid and the team was incredibly careful about masks etc. I will hire them again."

Depending on the type of project, you may find subtle differences in the hiring process. Here’s a look at task-specific advice.
You can use HomeAdvisor to help evaluate a contractor’s qualifications. We put pros through a screening process, and award badges to high-performing contractors. You can find these badges on a pro’s HomeAdvisor profile, and sometimes, his or her website.
Your research doesn’t stop here. Once you’ve found a few prospective companies, make an call to ask a few questions about work history, licensure and more:
In most cases, the responses you get to these three questions will give you a very good idea of the right pro for your project. If you have more than one front-runner, these additional questions can help you narrow it down.
Any good contractor will answer these questions, and most will appreciate dealing with a client that takes such an active interest in finding good service. On the other hand, if a contractor gives you a hard time with these questions, you probably want to find someone else.
