ANONG'S LOCKSMITH

Serving Wahiawa, HI and surrounding areas

"The owner, Anong, gladly gave a quote over the phone and time work could be done later that day. The quote was to re-key (re-code) 3 locks. We received a call about 15 minutes before the owner's son, Thomas, arrived to do the work, and later the owner-father. The locks were so old, it was advise to be replaced instead of re-keyed for slightly more cost. The work was done competently and for a very reasonable price, and included extra work to reposition the strike plate for the deadbolt that had prevented the old deadbolt for years due to the sagging door. Work was done professionally, courteously, timely, and very satisfactorily to us. We would highly recommend this locksmith."

"The is the second time I've used this company for a lock replacement. Both incidents initiated quick responses, cordial locksmiths who took the time to explain what they were going to do, what kind of expense I could incur. Moreover, they took precaution in the removal of the old lock to avoid/lessen the damage of the surrounding area which could impact the cost. Additionally, they explained the choice of locks that should be used comparable to the door integrity. Lastly, made suggestions on how to maintain the locks for longer wear. The cost of replacement in my assessment was reasonable in both incidents. <br />"

FAQs for locksmith service projects in Wahiawa, HI

The installation timeframe varies based on door preparation and lock complexity. For doors already prepared with appropriate holes, installation might take 15 to 30 minutes. New installations requiring drilling take one to two hours. First-time DIY installers should allocate additional time to ensure proper alignment and function. Professional locksmiths complete standard installations efficiently due to their specialized tools and experience.

Most residential doors can accommodate deadbolts, but certain door types present challenges. Solid wood and fiberglass doors accept standard deadbolt hardware, while metal doors require specialized drilling equipment. Hollow-core interior doors lack the structural integrity to properly support deadbolts without additional reinforcement. Doors should be at least 1⅜ inches thick to properly house standard deadbolt mechanisms.

Door warranties remain valid when deadbolts are installed according to the manufacturer's guidelines. However, improper installation that damages the door structure might affect warranty coverage.

Before modifying any door under warranty, review the documentation for specific limitations or requirements regarding hardware installation. Some manufacturers provide templates or guidelines for acceptable lock placement to maintain warranty protection.

Rekeying offers a more economical alternative to complete replacement when you need to change access, but the lock mechanism remains in good condition. This process involves reconfiguring the internal pins to work with a new key while retaining the existing hardware. For homeowners with multiple locks, rekeying provides the convenience of using a single key for all entry points while maintaining security.
