"Ian drove out the day I contacted him about having a French drain installed. After looking and listening to my concerns he gave me his advice and estimate on my drainage problem. His plan and knowledge was so much better than mine, but he told me to sleep on it and/or get more estimates. I called him the next morning and he started that day and finished the next. He even came in $100 less than he quoted me. It’s been raining ever since and it’s been draining beautifully. Ian was very professional, kind, and timely. I am very grateful for his quick response and a job well done. 5 stars!!"

"I did a allot of research before hiring a company to perform this task. Robles landscaping gave me an estimate and was very reasonable. Juan the owner and his crew did a fantastic job! Exceeded our expectations. Very professional and most of all top notch quality work. I hired him on the spot to do some landscaping around our new patio. Would highly recommend Robles Landscaping."

Small jobs welcome

"Mark was reliable, he communicated regularly and on time, and was at the work site when he said he'd be there. He dug holes to install a sliding gate system and extended fence to expand our Native Plant Center nursery. He also dug out a sensitive spot for a stand pipe to be installed from an existing water line. Mark has a great deal of practical experience and knowledge, so we benefited considerably from just being around him during the work. I'd recommend him to anyone."

"Working with the Ybarra team, Daniel, Alfredo, Jacob and Jason was an outstanding experience. We had a large project flattening a slope, installing a retailing wall, cedar fence, pavers, river rock and a railing on our deck. Everything was exactly how we envisioned it and the work was extremely high quality. The team was fast and listened to all of my concerns. There was always someone available to answer my questions throughout the project. Would highly recommend Ybarra for my future projects."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Anacortes, WA

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
