"Russ was great. He called to let me know he was on his way and kept to the timeframe promised. He easily diagnosed the issue and gave me two ways to resolve it so I could choose and keep the cost down. In addition, I have two dogs that were running around and he was patient and careful with them. I would definitely hire them again!"

"Did a great job. I called and left message around 830 this morning. Hot callback by 9. Service man showed up at 11, replaced party and cleaned it all up, done by 1130. Great service, very friendly clean cut. Did a great job."

"It went great. The previous contractor had taken weeks to do hardly anything and left the job unfinished and a mess. Steve's crew came, corrected everything, and completed the job all before lunch. There was railing, two six by six support posts, and decking corrected properly. It looks great, and it is done!"

FAQs for locksmith service projects in Ballwin, MO

The installation timeframe varies based on door preparation and lock complexity. For doors already prepared with appropriate holes, installation might take 15 to 30 minutes. New installations requiring drilling take one to two hours. First-time DIY installers should allocate additional time to ensure proper alignment and function. Professional locksmiths complete standard installations efficiently due to their specialized tools and experience.

Most residential doors can accommodate deadbolts, but certain door types present challenges. Solid wood and fiberglass doors accept standard deadbolt hardware, while metal doors require specialized drilling equipment. Hollow-core interior doors lack the structural integrity to properly support deadbolts without additional reinforcement. Doors should be at least 1⅜ inches thick to properly house standard deadbolt mechanisms.

Door warranties remain valid when deadbolts are installed according to the manufacturer's guidelines. However, improper installation that damages the door structure might affect warranty coverage.

Before modifying any door under warranty, review the documentation for specific limitations or requirements regarding hardware installation. Some manufacturers provide templates or guidelines for acceptable lock placement to maintain warranty protection.

Rekeying offers a more economical alternative to complete replacement when you need to change access, but the lock mechanism remains in good condition. This process involves reconfiguring the internal pins to work with a new key while retaining the existing hardware. For homeowners with multiple locks, rekeying provides the convenience of using a single key for all entry points while maintaining security.
