"If I could give them 100 stars I would!!! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ To say they SAVED our family vacation would be an understatement! We were out of town, stranded on the side of the road with 4 kids, 3 dogs, and a camper, and desperate! ??‍♀️??‍♀️ A+ was actually recommended to us by a whole different auto shop— one explanation of our situation and they knew A+ would be the ones to help us! One call to A+ and they helped to get our truck towed to the shop and rolled right into the bay ASAP! Even offered to help get the camper towed if we couldn’t get the truck back on the road same day. They Kept in contact with us via text till the very end of our experience and I don’t think they’ll ever truly know how much they helped to put myself and my husband at ease! We were able to get back on the road and enjoy every moment of our vaca! And cost..... well let’s just say he probably could’ve charged me way more and I wouldn’t have known otherwise. Honest, hard working, amazing people at A+!!!"

FAQs for locksmith service projects in Birmingham, AL

The installation timeframe varies based on door preparation and lock complexity. For doors already prepared with appropriate holes, installation might take 15 to 30 minutes. New installations requiring drilling take one to two hours. First-time DIY installers should allocate additional time to ensure proper alignment and function. Professional locksmiths complete standard installations efficiently due to their specialized tools and experience.

Most residential doors can accommodate deadbolts, but certain door types present challenges. Solid wood and fiberglass doors accept standard deadbolt hardware, while metal doors require specialized drilling equipment. Hollow-core interior doors lack the structural integrity to properly support deadbolts without additional reinforcement. Doors should be at least 1⅜ inches thick to properly house standard deadbolt mechanisms.

Door warranties remain valid when deadbolts are installed according to the manufacturer's guidelines. However, improper installation that damages the door structure might affect warranty coverage.

Before modifying any door under warranty, review the documentation for specific limitations or requirements regarding hardware installation. Some manufacturers provide templates or guidelines for acceptable lock placement to maintain warranty protection.

Rekeying offers a more economical alternative to complete replacement when you need to change access, but the lock mechanism remains in good condition. This process involves reconfiguring the internal pins to work with a new key while retaining the existing hardware. For homeowners with multiple locks, rekeying provides the convenience of using a single key for all entry points while maintaining security.
