"MTP replaced my exterior sewer pipe after it was found to be in terrible condition. Mark did a great job getting it done. I didn't have the funds needed for this unexpected job and another person came over to work out a loan for me with GreenSky. I wound up on the wrong type of loan and didn't realize it until I got a letter saying my payments were about to change and interest charges would be incurred. I have called 4x and the person who I did the loan with hasn't called me back. He had the (genuinely lovely) person who handles the phone calls ring me back to say I to speak to the loan people, but the loan folks say it is an issue on the end of MTP. If he had simply called me back and even spoken to me after 3 weeks of calling, I wouldn't be writing this."

"This past weekend I had a bad experience. The short story is that an A. J. Perri technician diagnosed my furnace problem and wrote me an estimate for $1,600, parts and labor. It turns out my furnace had a different problem that required no parts and only 15 minutes of labor. Here are the details: This past Saturday my furnace stopped heating my home. I called A.J. Perri and they sent out a technician on Sunday morning. The tech ran some checks and concluded that my “inducer assembly” had to be replaced. Parts and installation would be $1,600. He said someone from the office would contact me on Monday and let me know when they could have the part. He also said that he couldn't be certain that there weren't other issues that wouldn't be found until the inducer was repaired. After the technician left I did some searching on the Internet. YouTube and Reddit were especially helpful. I discovered that the problem was that the condensate drain was clogged and water had backed up into the inducer assembly. The water prevented the pressure switches from detecting that the inducer was running and this prevented the furnace from starting. When I disconnected the condensate hose *2 quarts* of water drained out of the inducer assembly! This water was supposed to drain into a small pump unit on the floor that sends collected water to the sump. Over the years mold and algae had clogged the condensate trap and caused the backup. I disconnected all the hoses and removed the trap. I blew out the trap (making a mess) and confirmed that water would easily flow through it. I put it all back together and the furnace is working fine. The sad lesson here is that you can’t always rely on supposed experts. The good news is that the Internet can be your friend. Even more details: The original symptom was that the furnace would start up, the inducer motor would run for about 20 seconds and then it would shut off. This cycle would repeat every few minutes. Every few hours the furnace completed the startup cycle and then I’d get heat. Then it would stop heating for hours, and the indoor temperature would drop to the low 60s. What I learned from YouTube is that there are multiple stages for furnace startup. The inducer motor spins a cage that sucks in fresh air for combustion, and then pushes the hot gases through the heat exchanger and out the flue. Each stage in the startup has safety checks. The furnace will not ignite if the pressure sensors don’t detect that the inducer motor is working properly. Water is a byproduct of the combustion. It starts as a vapor but then condenses in the flue pipe and drains back to the inducer assembly, where it’s supposed to run through a hose to a pump that sends it over to my basement sump. The furnace is 14 years old. Apparently that’s long enough for mold and algae to clog the condensate trap and cause water to back up into the inducer. The 2 qts of water blocked the pressure sensor switches and so the furnace wouldn’t light. Final thoughts: For over 14 years I've had great experiences with A.J. Perri. They replaced my home’s original furnace and Air Conditioner units. They moved our outside A/C unit to the side of our house so we could have more quiet in the backyard. I had them come for periodic heating and A/C maintenance checkups. My impression is that they might cost a bit more, but they were reliable. I'm saddened that I need to post such a negative review."

"Unfortunately I have to leave a star which is not deserved. I have been a customer of Binsky for awhile now and after an incident with one of their drivers, I will never use their services again. Despite complaining to the President and two different managers, I have yet to hear anything about how the situation will be handled. One of their drivers tailgated me with their brights on because I was going the speed limit on a 2 lane road in New Jersey. The brights made me go slower because of the glare. I had the state police on the phone the entire time to give them a description of the vehicle once I was able too. The driver passed me once the road turned into 2 lanes and held his hand on the horn and cut me off almost hitting my front end. The van sped off I was unable to get the plate. All I saw was that it was a Binsky truck with a ladder on the roof. My son was in the car with me panicking and nervous we were going to have an accident. NOT A D*** THING WAS DONE ABOUT THIS BY THE COMPANY THEREFORE I WILL NOT EVER USE THEIR SERVICES AGAIN AND MAKE SURE TO PUT MY REWIEWS ON EVERY PLATFORM REGARDING THIS. If I had to stop short for any reason my son and I could have been killed. DISGRACEFUL."

FAQs for water treatment & purification system installation and replacement projects in Dayton, NJ

Water softeners consist of three main components: a mineral tank, a brine tank, and a control valve. In some smaller units, the mineral tank and brine tank are combined into one cabinet.

Professionals install whole-home systems at the point of entry of the main water line. Smaller units are installed under sinks or near a washer—these units only soften the water for that fixture, not the entire home.

  • Mineral Tank: Hard water passes into the mineral tank through resin beads, and an ion exchange occurs. Magnesium and calcium ions are exchanged for sodium or potassium ions from the brine tank.

  • Brine Tank: The brine tank contains sodium or potassium to recharge the resin.

  • Control Valve: The control valve determines when to clean the resin beads.

Choosing between a salt-based or potassium-based water softener depends on your priorities. Salt-based systems effectively remove hard-water minerals, regenerate efficiently, and are cost-effective. However, they may not be ideal for individuals on low-sodium diets. Potassium-based systems neutralize minerals without removing them and regenerate more frequently. They are more expensive but offer a healthier and more environmentally friendly option. If sodium levels are a concern and cost isn't a major factor, a potassium system may be the better choice.

To calculate your water softener's capacity, determine your grains per gallon (GPG) number by:

  • Multiplying the number of people in your home by 90. The average number of gallons used per person for washing, drinking, and cooking ranges from 80 to 100 gallons per day.

  • Multiplying that result by the hardness of your water. The average grains per gallon in the United States is 10 but can range from 0 to 17. You can find your GPG number by purchasing an at-home water testing kit.

Installing a water softener takes between two to four hours on average. The exact duration depends on the complexity of the unit and whether additional plumbing or electrical work is required. If modifications to existing pipes are necessary, installation may take longer. Preparing the installation area by clearing any obstructions can help streamline the process.

Water softeners can last up to 25 years with proper maintenance and care. The lifespan depends on the type and quality of the unit you choose. Single-tank electric water softeners may last around 12 years, while higher-quality models tend to last longer. Regular maintenance, such as routine inspections and timely replacement of salts or potassium, helps extend the life of your system. Most water softeners require minimal repairs over their lifespan.
