I called North American Chimney because I had them out to clean my chimney before and they did a nice job. I called and made an appt. The technicians came out to take a look and gave me a price for a cap and brickwork. I was pleased with the price and I told them to do the job. They did the work that day and I was so happy. That is a very honest, unusual thing for a provider to propose and we appreciated their honesty and professionalism. A bit of a problem in getting back to me about further service, to upper chimney, they said I needed. Paperwork couldn't be located."

Safeside Chimney never saw that the west side of the chimney had major issues, so they were going to put new bricks on bad bricks. Really?? Imagine how long that would have lasted! "First they did not show up for the first appointment. I had to call and ask if they were coming. Another appointment was made. A third appointment was needed for the cricket . When they installed the cricket, they did not vaccume out the mess. They had a tarp on the ground, but still were disrespectful of my home, walking over the mess and tracking the dirt. I requested information on cleaning the indoor brick. I was told, they had a great product and would bring it out for me to sample. They never came or called me about this product. The never called to ask if the outside brick work was effective after a rain storm. Yes, the re- pointing of the outdoor bricks did not leak, and the work was satisfactory. They need to improve customer service. I will not use them again. <br />"

"The representative showed up between 9 and noon as was discussed.  He did call in advance as well to let us know he was on the way.  Once Lyle arrived, he followed through with the cleaning from the roof and also cleaned out the entire firebox once he was done.  Very efficient and clean.  Once that was done, I did get to speak with Kyle to restate the estimate that i was looking for and we discussed different options.  Before leaving Kyle left a written estimate for future considerations for a chimney cap installation and some masonry work to repair some loose/cracked bricks. <br /> I am very happy with the cleaning.  I will most likely purchase and install my own chimney cap saving about $200(I have a very low and easy to get to chimney otherwise I could pay/justify the cost).   <br /> The masonry work I will most likely do myself as well for the same reason I mentioned regarding the chimney cap.  If the price was more affordable, I would just pay to have it all done by the company.  The representative was knowledgeable and earned my trust, the price point was just not worth it in the end. <br />"

I had hoped it would be a relatively simple repair job but several other chimney companies indicated I'd need a total rebuild, one saying that the chimney "as is" would never pass a home inspection. "Henry Guzman and his entire crew preformed far beyond our expectations. Not only was their bid the lowest by 4K+ for roofing alone (never mind the chimney repair and power washing) they were attentive, communicative, polite and professional to the extreme. <br /> <br /> After a day of work, work was interrupted for 3 weeks due to a misunderstanding with the Cheshire Historical Commission. CT Masonry covered the unfinished roof with tarp and came by every few days to make sure it was still in place in the wind. When work resumed, they discovered they would practically have to rebuild our wrap around front porch roof. There was never any discussion of adding to the cost--they had made a contract and stuck to it! <br /> <br /> A crew of 5 or 6 worked constantly, Henry bringing them lunch so they didn't have to leave the property. Everything was cleaned up completely after each day's work. They always arrived when they promised and were attentive to our needs in every way. <br /> People all over the neighborhood--especially our next door neighbors--have commented on the quality of the work and the professionalism of the workers. <br /> <br /> I took a check out to Henry's partner, Jose, on the last day. He would not accept it until the work was totally done, everything was cleaned up and he took me on a walk-about to point out what they had done. Imagine that kind of concern and commitment! <br /> <br /> Other estimates for the three jobs separately totaled $$18K. We got it all done by great guys for $11.5K and only had to deal with one contractor. <br /> <br /> I actually looked forward to seeing them each day and talking a bit--though they worked so hard there wasn't much time for talk. <br /> <br /> I would recommend CT Masonry and Waterproofing in New Haven for roofing, masonry work and power-washing enthusiastically to anyone in CT.
