"After having Jerry come out for a cleaning and inspection, I learned that the firebox and chimney required some repairs before the fireplace could be used safely as a result of water damage. A subsequent visit revealed that it had even worse structural issues than originally thought, and we decided to convert to an electric fireplace to avoid the higher costs of restoring it. Kevin and Tyson arrived on time, provided friendly service and completed the installation in a professional manner. The one area I think could stand improvement is communication with the homeowner when questions arise about estimates, fireplace products, etc. But I wouldn’t hesitate to hire them again."

They found the original brick and mortar matches the rest of the fireplace. All 15-20 courses of new brick are straight. Most impressive was care they took with the yard/patio. Plywood was laid down to prevent the lift machine from creating ruts in the yard - no ruts. Also, put everything else back to like new as if they had not been there."

"I told them that smoke was filing the basement through thee fireplace in the basement when I'd start a fire. The propose for having them come out was to make sure everything functioned properly and if not than to fix it. The service man was nice. He did some things outside which I presumed was part of the inspection. He cleaned the chimney in my front room then went to the basement. He told me the chimney didn't need cleaned because it was a gas fireplace. He told me that if I wanted to convert it that all I had to do was remove the hardware. He then charged me for the inspection and cleaning. He said everything was intact and fine with my chimneys. I immediately removed the hardware and started a fire in the basement. The first problem, 2 dead birds (newly dead) feel out when I opened the flue (I think that's what its called). How'd he inspect it if he never opened it up and looked up the chimney? As soon as the fire was started, dense smoke filled the basement and there was a horrible odor! I called the company immediately but got no response. I left a message. Today, 12/1/2014, I called again and spoke to a rep and told him about the problem. Instead of sending someone out to complete a real inspection he started listing off reasons for smoke completely ignoring the fact that his service guy gave my chimneys a clean bill of health! He said there were 2 options for repair of the problem choosing from $225-550! This diagnoses was given by a man who'd not been to my house while his repairman either missed it completely OR ignored it for not wanting to complete the task! In addition, hestated that this was/is a common problem with these newer houses. My house was built in the mid-60's. With the fireplaces being my main source of heat my daughter and I have been freezing! Thank you Whempy's for taking advantage of me! <br />"

"When I had the company install the chimney damper cap, which is amazing as it keeps out birds, bugs and draft, they found cracks in the chimney. Since I will be selling the house, it had to be done. We had not used the fireplace for a long time. The installers explained the process, noting that the cost was mainly for the stainless steel liner. They were extremely professional and neat, considering it is a fireplace and chimney. The man also loved my dogs! <br />"
