The attic vent pipe for the dryer was inspected as well as the fireplace chimney caps on the roof and overall condition of the firebox.  The chimney and firebox were cleaned and all ashes and creosote removed, making the fireplace safer to use. The chimney hadn't been cleaned in over five years and we burn wood fires about 3 times a week during the winter, so the service was definitely needed.  The dryer vent had a moderate amount of lint buildup so cleaning was quick and not problematic. Job entailed "shaving" currently available matching bricks to fit the existing narrower bricks. Great effort was made to "match" the other bricks -- hard to tell that new bricks were interspersed with the old bricks. Very happy with this masonry work & no more cold breezes around doors & fireplaces! Cat & Mack"

"During one of our infrequent summer rains this July, I noticed a leak around one corner of the vaulted ceiling at the fireplace. I called my roofer and everything was fine with the roof shingles and the flashing around the chimney.  My roofer pointed out that the concrete on the chimney crown was severely cracked and had eroded at the corners where it meets the chimney.  He said that he didn't do that type of repair, but he could have a metal crown fabricated and attach it to the chimney.  I decided to not go that route and started searching for ways to repair the chimney on the internet.  <br /> I had used Top Hat Chimney Sweeps years ago to clean the chimney, so I called them again for an estimate.  About 10 days later, Royal came out to inspect my chimney.  He pointed out all the issues with the chimney and explained my options, including fabricating a metal crown.  The crown did not have to be replaced and could be repaired, so that was the best option as it maintained the original look.  Royal scheduled a date for a week later to do the repair.  <br /> Royal showed up right on time and repaired the chimney crown, tuckpointed the mortar that had deteriorated on the bricks, and sealed the chimney.  When Royal was finished, he invited me up on the roof to inspect his work.  Everything looked great, and the area was clean.  Just recently, we had 3" of rain over a day and a half, and there was no leak. <br /> Royal was very professional in dealings with me, and his work was impeccable.  I would recommend Top Hat Chimney Sweeps for any chimney repairs or service.  They know their business. <br /> <br />"
