"On April 21, 2018, Ernest Serghi of American Plumber, LLC gave an estimate to replace the existing 1.5” underground gas line from the gas meter to the pool heater. This line is buried 30”. I told him that I wanted a 1.5” poly gas pipe buried 18” which was specified by the Holmdel plumbing inspector. He agreed to this and I signed the contract. On May 9, 2018, Ernest came to do the job and dug a narrow trench with a small hand-operated trenching machine and rolled out the yellow poly gas line, I measured the depth immediately and told Ernest that it was only about 12” deep and I wanted it 18” deep as he had agreed to. Ernest said the Code only requires a 12” depth and refused to dig the trench deeper. Ernest did the job in just 2 hours since he did not dig the trench 18 inches as he had agreed to. I have photographic evidence that in one area the gas line is only 9 inches deep. This is a violation of NJ Fuel Gas Code 404.9 that specifies a minimum burial depth of 12”. On May 10, 2018, the Holmdel plumbing inspector looked at the job quickly and approved it. However, he failed to measure the depth of the gas line and did not realize that it did not meet the minimum burial depth required by the Code. In the contract job description, Ernest did not specify in writing the 18” burial depth of the gas line that he had agreed to. I should have required this wording since Ernest did not honor our verbal agreement. I have contacted American Plumber, LLC several times in an attempt to have them correct the code violation and adjust the contract price to reflect the work that was actually done. Instead of trying to correct their error, American Plumber, LLC is demanding payment in full and filed with the Clerk of Monmouth County a Notice of Unpaid Balance and Right to File Lien against my property. I have filed complaints about this unscrupulous and dishonest contractor Ernest Serghis of American Plumber, LLC with the NJ Department of Consumer Affairs and Better Business Bureau."

"We highly recommend Steven at Mainstream Plumbing & Heating. Our first experience with Mainstream Plumbing & Heating was in 2020 during Covid when we lost hot water in our house. Our previous plumber went out of business and luckily Steven was available. He diagnosed the issue and explained that we needed a new water heater. Even though supply was tight, he was able to find a new Rheem water heater and install it quickly. We previously bought a warranty extension kit for our old water heater and even though previous plumber installed it, Steven promised to file claim with manufacturer to reclaim money for us. We were pleasantly surprised that Steven contacted us a few months later to give us the warranty money that he recovered. We are extremely grateful for his honesty and integrity! Throughout the years he has fixed the toilet flush valves in 2 of our bathrooms, fixed clogged bathroom sink and replaced the drain and replaced a leaking shower fixture. Most recently he troubleshooted the loss of water pressure in our kitchen and discovered that the shut off valves had failed and discharged debris towards the faucet causing a blockage issue. Steven’s work is impeccable and he is always prompt, clean and utilizes the best materials. He explains the problem clearly and provides fair estimates given his expertise and quality of work. We highly recommend Steven and look forward to continue working with him for all our plumbing needs!"

"Tricounty Plumbing is the worst and you should avoid at all costs. Be very careful of their labor rate as they charge you for 2 people even if one is an apprentice and literally can’t do anything. They installed my dishwasher, never bothered to check it. It wasn’t working properly AND a connection was leaking, causing major water damage to my house which tools several weeks of repair. They repaired the water damage (via a claim to their insurance). For the dishwasher not working (which they originally tried to blame on the manufacturer), they came back and found an issue with valves under the sink and repaired these. Great, right? Not so fast. They invoiced me $500 in labor for the original install and then another $750 for when they came back to troubleshoot. I get it, there were parts involved and I should be charged for those, but how do you charge someone $500 for labor (that resulted in a non-functioning appliance that you DIDNT CHECK) and then another $600 to come back and fix it? To make matters worse, if you call with an issue, they send you to the owner, Frank, who repeatedly yells over you and attempts to point fingers in the hopes that you give up. I’m not giving up. The 2nd visit was completed when I wasn’t even home and I don’t even have an invoice of work, they just sent me a bill and expect me to just shut up and pay it. I guess they felt they had to make more money off me because of all the time they spent at my house trying to fix the leak they caused. Plumbers are expensive, I get that, but do yourself a favor and choose one with better ethics and experienced employees."

"Very expensive. Needed to replace kitchen faucet as ours was broken. we bought a new one ourselves and just needed to have it installed. Simple job. First the charge $69 just top come to the house, and it is not included in the price if they do the job. It is on top of the job price. Since we were desperate (we have a holiday party this week) we had to have the job done. Took less than an hour. $638. This seems very expensive for less than an hour's work. Should have taken the quote and gone elsewhere but did not have the time to look for another plumber."
