"Southern Maine Masonry came out, reviewed the project, and never gave an estimate. I followed up with a phone call and asked about the estimate. I was told that he would check with his son and never heard back."

"When I moved here I just found them in my telephone book. All they did was sweep. The last time they were here for cleaning it cost me $99. I don't know why they charged me that much for inspection. The guy I really like is Phil Mitchell the owner. The person who came the last two times was his assistant. Phil used to come, and he gave me a good deal because my chimney doesn't need to be swept. It is clean because I don't use the fire place. This guy who came to inspect my fireplace charged me a high price when he was here. It could be a new price I have no idea, he did not tell me. They are on time. Phil Mitchell is professional."

"Perfect. Mark is clearly a professional. He repaired my stove door, made it useable again, all while very patiently answering all my questions about proper maintenance and care. He also gave me some much needed advice on alternative ways to save even more money on my heating bill. These are very helpful and friendly folk. I would not hesitate to ask them for help again and recommend to anyone who needs this service."

"John Ceaser and Max replaced our furnace chimney and liner, including demolition of the deteriorated concrete block and cleaning the ductwork at the furnace. They were exceptionally neat (hauling away all debris promptly), professional, informative about what the job entailed and replacing the stone and liner. The masonry work is particularly handsome and they took extra care on the appearance because it is viewable from the driveway. They also swept clean our woodstove chimney and cleaned the stove interior. We are extremely pleased with the job and recommend the company highly. Jill was a delight to work with in the office, as well. Great job, folks, and thanks!"

"I am new on our Board and I am using companies from those that did excellent work before for our association. We had 2 other options that I was willing to contact but my thoughts were, "why change a good thing". I have records going back maybe 12 years or so and Armstrong was the only company our association used. I suggested to the board that for reliable companies that did excellent work for us in the past, I would like to bypass the usual requirement of 3 estimates as we would have no history on 2 of them. The idea was approved and I hired Armstrong for our recent dryer vent cleanings in the Association. Their work last week was excellent and we could not have had a friendlier and more professional group to work with. In 8 cases out of our 18 units, additional "inside access to the dryer vent was necessary" and we agreed to have Armstrong come back and complete the cleanings at a small additional price. The prices were better than fair in my opinion and obviously, Armstrong represents itself well in the areas of punctuality, efficiency, price, cleanliness and doing the job well. I'm pleased. The remainder of the board is pleased and the only comments I have received from residents were positive. I trust Armstrong and I hope for a continued, long association. They are also licensed here in NH which is a new requirement for our attorney (and me) and I received their certificates within 2 days of requesting them. Overall, great company. I wish all companies for home repairs/maintenance were as pleasant to deal with. The "Cost listed below includes 18 homes with supplemental inside work for 7 units."

"We love John. After sent him a request for an estimate by e-mail, we received a call back the same night and he came the very next day, which was a Sunday. He called when he was on his way and was on time for our appointment. We needed a quote for a remodel on our family, new stone stairs at the front of the house, a new walkway and for either repair or replace of our retaining wall. John was very knowledgeable and give us tips on how to be cost effective in the work we needed done. He was very personable and professional. We got quotes from four other contractors. John's quote was reasonable and on par with other quotes we received. We decided to John over other because of how quickly he responded, how quickly he got us his quotes (which was right when he said he would) and his general personality. <br /> He did a great job on our front stairs.  We've received so many comments from our neighbors about how great they look and how jealous they are.  Our new front door to the family works perfectly and looks great and he did a great job closing in the skylight.  While working on our the family room he noted some problems with our roof and our chimney which I knew about but hadn't gotten around to getting quotes on.  He offered to do the quotes and had them back to me within a day.  <br /> We definitely plan on using John again.  I recommend him with two thumbs up! <br />"

"I highly recommend J. Carnes & Son Roofing for your roof replacement. Jay responded to all questions/correspondences in a timely manner. He was able to start the job and complete the work in the time frame stated when he provided me the quote (very busy so a couple of months out and well worth the wait). He AND his crew are very professional and polite. Jay's crew was prompt and efficient getting right to work as soon as they arrived taking care to move anything that was in the way. The work was completed in a timely manner and the crew dealt very professionally with the unexpected rain that arrived before they could complete the work which would have otherwise been finished the same day. The crew was polite enough to ask how early they could start and arrived back bright and early the next morning (which happened to be a Saturday) to complete the work which included my shed roof. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. They even changed my flood lights high up on my garage (thanks guys!). The cleanup was great and when they finished the work, they were packed up and gone just a quick as they had set up taking care to remove all the debris. Although J. Carnes & Son was not the lowest quote I received, the price was reasonable and my decision was not based on cost alone. Other factors I considered when making my decision. • Experience • Knowledge of products offered • Straightforward explanation of the products offered • Professionalism he presented when we met I felt these factors made J. Carnes & Son the best option and worth the slightly higher cost and I was not disappointed. Another factor that I would like to mention that is important to me being a single woman. I'm used to (and hate) the 'hard sell' and ‘scare’ tactics others sometimes use and fortunately, Jay does none of this. He presented the facts about a new roof with honesty and spoke to me respectfully about the options. Note: The price quoted was for a ranch-style house with an attached large two-car garage, mud room between garage and house, and a standard size shed. Thanks for a great experience and job well done!"

"First class job at a very fair price Bottom line...I highly recommend Georgoulis Roofing and Construction. Our experience with them could not have been any better. I wasn't looking forward to finding a new contractor, especially since there seems to be so many small roofing companies out there. We used a roofer on our old house years ago and we would not use them again. We also knew of a roofer that our neighbor used, but he ended up over-estimating the roof size, which resulted in much higher costs for materials and labor. I don't think he really wanted the job. I saw great reviews for Georgoulis on multiple web sites, and I preferred to deal with a local company. Since I relied on those reviews, I wanted to share our experience for the benefit of others. Al Greene (Director of Field Operations) was great to work with. He was always extremely responsive, replying to all of our emails in a very timely manner (almost always within 24 hours or less). We looked at both Certainteed and GAF shingles, and decided on Certainteed Landmark (Pewterwood color). Moises, Christian and the rest of the roofing crew did a great job. Our house is 2500 sq ft...2 stories plus a side family room and the roof has a fairly good grade (roofers had to use safety ropes). They said the existing 1-layer roof would be stripped and replaced in two days, and it was. There were seven workers the first day and they worked a 12 hour day. There were three workers the second day and they worked 10 hours. They moved along at a really good pace. They placed blue tarps to protect the shrubs, walkway and deck. They then placed larger black tarps from the roof edge to the ground to protect the house itself. The crew also used several large magnets to search for nails all around the grounds and the lawn when done. There were only a few minor follow-up issues that required fixing - nothing unexpected for such a dirty job. A few asphalt marks on the siding and aluminum flashing from the shingle debris. There were also a couple of pieces of white aluminium flashing that had to be bent during installation in order to get the shingles all of the way in. This was completely understandable. Since we had a prior problem with bats in one of those areas, we asked them to restore the flashing to its original snug fit. They took care of everything right away. We also had three window screens that were damaged by shingle debris on the second day (minor scraps from the new roof; large black house tarps are only up during roof removal on day 1; had to be removed from the roof edge in order to install the new roof). I offered to take the screens to be repaired and Georgoulis reimbursed us. In hindsight, I wish I had taken the screens out. Kevin and Billy installed 10 sets of new vinyl shutters as well as a rain diverter over the front steps. They also addressed some of the clean-up issues. We covered the items in our attic since we knew there would be lots of granules going through the ridge vent during removal. We also took down anything hanging on the walls that might fall due to vibrations (mirrors, framed pictures, etc). Turns out we probably didn't need to do that, but better safe than sorry. We've already had a few good rain storms and there are no leaks or issues with the new roof. The builder had used inferior shingles when they built the house. We had a couple of leaks and had shingles blow off several times over the years due to the wind (due to lack of tar adhesive on the shingles). We now know that we have a solid, high quality roof. Everyone involved was great from start to finish. We couldn't have asked for more. It really exceeded our expectations. We would highly recommend Georgoulis to family and friends and would definitely use them again for any job."
