We are a family business that has been around for almost 50 years. We install residential and commercial water wells, pump installation and repair, water filtration and geothermal boreholes and system installation.

"These ladies came out today (Saturday of Easter weekend) on an emergency call and determined we needed a new relay. They didn’t try to sell us a new pump but given the fact that the pump was most likely the same vintage (37 years old) we asked them to install a new one. They were professional, knowledgeable and fast! We would highly recommend them to anyone needing well work. The price was reasonable too! Thank you ladies!!"

"Albany NY.....I bought an RO system ran just to the kitchen sink. The tech came on a Friday afternoon. Saturday night I went down and saw all this water on my basement floor. A slow leak so I waited until the next day and reported it to the salesman and 24/7 service along with the fact that I had purchased an extra set of filters which were not left. NO ONE CAME TO LOOK/FIX THE PROBLEM!! So on Monday morning I hired my own plumber to fix it (a nut which was loosened by the tech and not tightened enough) and BLOCKED this company from my phone. If they don't care to hear me then I DON'T CARE TO HEAR THEM ASKING FOR PAYMENT!!!! They are incompetent and thieves. I ignored them for 2+ years and then they brought me to court. Because I didn't respond to the courts I lost out and had to pay them. THEY SUCK!!!! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM."

"DO NOT GIVE THIS MAN YOUR MONEY!!! He is a liar, a fraud, and stole $3,000 from me. He quoted me on installing a mini-split AC system and I gave him a 3k down payment to purchase the unit and start the work. I thought he had been recommended to me by someone I trusted (which is why I overlooked many red flags and gave him money), only to later find out he was not the guy who was actually recommended. After Corey delayed the start date 2 times, I researched him further online and realized he had lied to me and misrepresented his work. He had shown me photos of “his remodeling work”, which I found were taken from various sources online, like Pinterest. These photos were also on his Facebook page, which he later removed after I called him out (I have screenshots, though). Then I called the supplier from which he ordered my AC unit (Meier Supply Co., Inc). They pulled up the order and said it was not paid for or picked up. Shortly after, I called Corey to cancel the job. I called him out on lying to me by misrepresenting his work and he admitted to that but lied further, saying he had already paid for and picked up my AC unit and pleaded with me to let him do the job. He admitted to lying again when I told him I had talked to the supplier that day. He agreed to pay back my 3k, but then the next day he began giving me the runaround via text and email, saying he had to do everything by the book and that I’d receive a call from his accountant (which he doesn’t have) and things had to go through his finance department (which he doesn’t have). It’s been a month now and I haven’t heard from him again, nor have a received any of my money back. I don’t expect to. I’m not sure whether or not Corey Malone is a good plumber. He might be, but I know for sure he’s a liar and crook. Stay clear of this guy."

Water treatment & purification system installations and replacements FAQs

Water softeners consist of three main components: a mineral tank, a brine tank, and a control valve. In some smaller units, the mineral tank and brine tank are combined into one cabinet.

Professionals install whole-home systems at the point of entry of the main water line. Smaller units are installed under sinks or near a washer—these units only soften the water for that fixture, not the entire home.

  • Mineral Tank: Hard water passes into the mineral tank through resin beads, and an ion exchange occurs. Magnesium and calcium ions are exchanged for sodium or potassium ions from the brine tank.

  • Brine Tank: The brine tank contains sodium or potassium to recharge the resin.

  • Control Valve: The control valve determines when to clean the resin beads.

Choosing between a salt-based or potassium-based water softener depends on your priorities. Salt-based systems effectively remove hard-water minerals, regenerate efficiently, and are cost-effective. However, they may not be ideal for individuals on low-sodium diets. Potassium-based systems neutralize minerals without removing them and regenerate more frequently. They are more expensive but offer a healthier and more environmentally friendly option. If sodium levels are a concern and cost isn't a major factor, a potassium system may be the better choice.

To calculate your water softener's capacity, determine your grains per gallon (GPG) number by:

  • Multiplying the number of people in your home by 90. The average number of gallons used per person for washing, drinking, and cooking ranges from 80 to 100 gallons per day.

  • Multiplying that result by the hardness of your water. The average grains per gallon in the United States is 10 but can range from 0 to 17. You can find your GPG number by purchasing an at-home water testing kit.

Installing a water softener takes between two to four hours on average. The exact duration depends on the complexity of the unit and whether additional plumbing or electrical work is required. If modifications to existing pipes are necessary, installation may take longer. Preparing the installation area by clearing any obstructions can help streamline the process.

Water softeners can last up to 25 years with proper maintenance and care. The lifespan depends on the type and quality of the unit you choose. Single-tank electric water softeners may last around 12 years, while higher-quality models tend to last longer. Regular maintenance, such as routine inspections and timely replacement of salts or potassium, helps extend the life of your system. Most water softeners require minimal repairs over their lifespan.
