The owner came for the estimate and was very detailed in providing us with two alternative approaches (rebuilding the large chimney or tearing it down and sealing the roof) and explaining "why" the current leaking existed. He set expectations up front for when and how the work would take place and this is very important when working with service organizations (contractors!)."

"Was very professional and thorough. Some of our foundation blocks were crumbling and the mortar between them was in bad shape. One of the foundation blocks needed to be completely replaced. He managed to find a matching block to replace that one. Repaired all of the crumbling blocks and mortar. Overall the repairs look great and blend nicely on our old house."

"Everything went great for this service call. Booked the appointment for a date/time that was convenient, and they offered a 2 hour window of time for the technician to arrive. They phoned the day before the appointment to confirm everything. Dean, the technician, arrived on site within the time window specified (they were on the early side of the time window, which was great). Dean did a very thorough job of inspecting and cleaning our fireplace, and was quite friendly and knowledgeable as well. He took care to make sure and tarp the area where he was working to protect the carpet and cleaned up and put everything back just as it was found. We will definitely use them again for future fireplace needs..."

"I'm a 100% satisfied with my recent chimney rebuild. Owner, Tony, was very responsive to my initial service call. I found him to be very professional, explaining everything that needed to be done. He provided me with an estimate within 24 hours of his visit and did not even ask for a deposit. My chimney cap was a special order and a little delayed. Tony kept me advised every step of the way and did not expect full payment until the job was done. On the day of the repair, his crew arrived on time. They were polite, courteous and willing to answer any questions. They worked diligently, completing the task in approximately 8 hours. I did not see them leave the job site during that time period. When they finished, the construction debris was completely removed from the roof, gutters and yard. Except for the beautiful new chimney, it looked as though they were never here! I would definitely hire them again! I have and will continue to recommend them to anyone in need of masonary services."

"Repairing our slate roof has been a challenge for us because it’s extremely difficult to find contractors that work on slate roofs. Even if you do find someone, they may not have the years of experience needed to successfully solve your problem. We have been fighting a leak around our chimney for about 2 years with numerous attempted repairs by different contractors, but Durable Slate was the only one able to solve the problem. I would recommend them to anyone and both Geoff and Aaron were great to work with."

"My appointment was at 4:00 and they called me promptly at four and told me that they had an emergency and would be able to be at my house by 5:00. They arrived at 4:30 and were very professional. Inspected my fireplace/chimney and found that it did not need cleaned or repaired. Since I do not have any experience with fireplaces, he showed me how to use it and told me what kind of wood to burn in it. I was very pleased with the service. He could have cleaned the chimney and charged me even though it didn't need done and I would have never known the difference. I also appreciated that they called to let me know they were going to be late."

"As with our previous experience with Marquard Home Improvement and Remodeling, everything went very well. Always on time and there was maybe one day they didn't/couldn't work. This job took over two weeks, but we wanted the work done right and I'm very satisfied with the results. My only issue was that I didn't ask for and wasn't given any of the instructions/papers for the faucets, lights, etc. in case I need to make repairs in the future."

"One screw type pier installed. 2 workers hand dug hole below bottom of foundation. Cleaned out under foundation for platform. Although foundation was deeper than I thought, the hole was done much better and quicker than I envisioned. Pier was screwed at bottom of hole with a hydraulic motor. Once limit on hydraulic pressure was reached, the pier was cut at proper level, platform installed, and cracked section of foundation was raised with a hydraulic jack. Crack in stonework closed up nicely without going too far and creating additional cracks. Workers had 5 and 15 years experience doing this work. Very professional and did a very nice job every step of the way. Note that I (homeowner) chose to move and reinstall landscaping stones and gutter drain. Also, tuckpointing/repairing the cracks was not included in the quote. I plan to do that myself at a later date."
