"It went fairly well. The man in charge of giving estimates gave me confidence. The man in charge of the work was a bit of a fast talker, however. I have waited over a year to finish this review b/c I wanted to wait until I got door into the porch from the house and for cold weather to see how well the insulation works. I do not have a heat vent on the porch. Was hoping the insulation along with a small electric heater would keep it warm. The contractor thought it would be okay without a heating vent. For most part it is, but with very cold weather, the porch gets pretty cold. I may have been hoping for more than was realistic and may eventually get a larger electric heater or get a vent from my furnace if I decide to use the room more regularly."

The price was good ($800 cheaper than other estimate) and included gas and electrical hook up and venting. Jeff came and installed unit. Everything went smooth and he left everything neat and clean. "We were in the inspection process of buying a house, and Greg agreed to do an estimate, even though we knew the crawlspace might have been a deal breaker for us since it was in pretty bad shape.  The home inspector suggested a vapor barrier.  I searched Angie's list and found Greg and his crew.  
Another local company I called would not come out to do an estimate since it was only a home inspection, and we weren't 100% sure we were going to buy the house, let alone complete the work after the purchase.
Upon talking with Greg the first time, I had a feeling that he was going to do a good job and be easy to work with.  He was very straight forward and truthful.
The crawlspace was a dirt floor, and probably hadn't been touched in over 20 years.  It was dank, wet, full of bugs as evidenced by the webs and old traps.  It was also had the beginnings of some rather serious issues from the neglect.  The bones were good, but it was definitely time to dry it out and start over.  Originally, I was looking to get the sealed with concrete and Greg suggested a new material, a spray on material, to use instead.  He assured me it would be strong enough to be used for storage items.  It would also save us 4 inches of clearance over the concrete, which makes a difference in a crawl space.  I decided to go with it, even though it was a brand new method at the time for Greg and his team.
 We decided to move forward and buy the house and we also decided to hire Greg and team to help transform the space in to a working storage area.
I could not be more happy with the result.  Greg's team showed up and immediately got to work.  Even though the house was not being lived in at the time and other contractors were there, the entrance and work areas were covered in plastic which is good thing as the guys coming out of the crawl were covered in mud.  I was surprised out how swiftly the crew got to work.  They got the job done quickly, and were extremely professional throughout the entire process.
After a fantastically wet spring, it turns out that a foundation crack was causing some very minor seepage from the outside after all of the work was complete.  Other houses in the area had their entire basements and crawls completely flooded.  Greg came back and sealed a very small crack free of charge to finish up the job.
I wish I had more crawlspaces to give Greg and his team more work.  I will definitely use them again should the need arise."

"We have an approximately 600 square foot crawl space that
was in dire need of water proofing.  And High Tech Waterproofing did a
great job on our crawlspace encapsulation.  The bid process went smooth
and was straightforward.  The bid was around $5500 with no real
upselling.  We had a few foundation cracks that were sealed, some train
tile installed,  a backup sump pump system with battery installed, a
thick(40-50 mil) poly liner laid over the gravel surface with no seams, and 2?
of spray foam insulation sprayed over the exterior  foundation walls.
We had a tight schedule to get the work done and Chuck and
his team were very courteous and professional and worked with us to accommodate
our needs.   They worked efficiently and thoroughly and did a good
job cleaning up after themselves when the job was completed.
I would highly recommend them and would certainly use them
again.

"The ordering and installation processes were great! The salesman visited our house and helped us select stain for the new windows that matched our existing trim. The windows and replacement trim were stained prior to installation. The salesman, measuring expert, and installation crew were friendly, on time, and very professional. The installation involved no surprises and was completed in the order of our requests. We paid a small fee for the installation crew to remove and reinstall all hardware for the drapes and blinds and it was definitely worth it. The interior and exterior weatherproofing was a plus. "We contacted Hansen Brothers on the recommendation of our roofers to install the electrical outlet for a roof heat cable and to discuss our front steps project. Until this point, it was difficult to get anyone to accept the front steps project. Masonry contractors would not handle cement and cement contractors would not handle masonry. We needed a general contractor to help and Hansen Brothers came highly recommended. Bob Hansen sent his son over to check on the electrical outlet needs and Bob came to assess the front steps project. He listened to my requests and introduced us to a metal worker who would fabricate the new handrails. We made a railing selection and then we discussed the timing to complete the project. In the interim, Bob's son Eric installed the roof power outlet and back door sconce satisfactorily. We started the big project of the steps replacement mid-September and it took several weeks to complete, there was much to coordinate to get this project done properly. Bob was in constant communication about the progress. We had a bit of a slow down waiting for the cement contractor to deliver the concrete, but once that happened, everything else came together. The final electrical pieces and masonry work were completed shortly after the steps were done.  Everything turned out beautifully!  Bob's experience and familiarity with Chicago homes was evident. He gave sound advice and provided some excellent suggestions with our projects. Our neighbors have also commented on how well things turned out. I would indeed contract with Hansen Brothers again for my home projects and will recommend Bob Hansen to my family and friends. I feel we have finally found a trusted general contractor who is responsive who takes pride in his work.

"I had three different people groups in who came in and gave me an estimate and what might be needed and what they discovered is that for some reason when the house was built 16 years ago, they did not really do adequate insulation.  I did feel very comfortable with Precise & Snug.  They were good about being able to show me pictures.  They showed how it looks up on the attic.  When you are in the process, the told us that they can do this and that and it would cost so much and the final bill was $20,000.  I would not use their service in the future."
