"Wow! Amazing service. I must've called 8 different places in a panic trying to get the brick mounts which hold the mantel removed from my old fireplace so the surface could be prepped for a new TV. Seemed like an easy task (I thought), but it was a little more meticulous than I thought. I called this team and they arrived same day! Incredible customer service and expertise. Not only did they return the day after providing an estimate and remove the brick mounts, they actually re-fabricated the brick to make the holes disappear! This team knows their stuff!! I was so impressed that in the Spring I'd like them to come and do some masonry work for me. Highly recommend. "We hired Sixpenny because we needed an urgent cleaning done on our newly purchased house after burning one fire and they said they could be at our house within 2 days, but only provided a 4 hour time window (12pm-4pm), requiring me to take the day off of work and stay home. The day comes with gusty winds which slowed down all of their appointments that day. This would not have been a major problem in itself if the company communicated that to me proactively, but by 3pm I called to confirm we were still on the list to be cleaned. By 4pm I called and was informed that the cleaner was on his way, at 4:30 I called again was told he was still on his way but no known estimated arrival time. Finally arrived shortly after 5pm, rushed through the cleaning as quick as he could, wasn't really able to answer any questions about how to reduce the fireplace smell in the house, from the concrete slab or from the hardwood floors and left in less than an hour. I understand he had a long day and was slowed by the weather, but the lack of proactive communication to keep us in the loop, as well as the limited knowledge either possessed or shared, is why I rated this company lower."

"Richard Wood's services came highly recommended from multiple well respected (and well reviewed) roofing companies. His reputation is well deserved. Richard and another expert mason, Eugene, performed all of the work themselves. They were punctual, professional, honest, and highly skilled. They were extremely careful and courteous. After the work was completed, they cleaned up both my property, and my neighbor's properties. Overall they were fantastic to deal with, and I would highly recommend them for any masonry repair work. <br /> <br />"

"Very pleasant, nice guys. They were recommended to me by two other Chimney Service companies for which I have high regard ( as a property manager). I called them for a scope/camera inspection and estimate on repair if needed. The chimney had bricks or terracotta chunks in the bottom which I could see from the furnace flue. I was looking for proof that they had fallen from inside the flue and had not been there since the chimney was built. They said that they would scope/take photos of the inside of the chimney. They had been to the house previously for an inspection (no photos) They did not scope or take any photos of the chimney. They did leave an estimate of $5160 for a chimney liner. They may be a very good company, but I was disappointed on two counts: 1) no photographic proof to support a very expensive repair, and 2) the price was really high (they may not have wanted to do the work?). Other estimates I received for the same chimney repair ranged from $3200 -$1900. Theirs was by far the highest. I paid about $130 for the inspection. They were prompt, professional and very pleasant. They also provided a very informative pamphlet called Safety and Comfort. Their estimate was much more detailed and specific than the others, which I appreciate. They required an Arlington Co permit to do the work while the others made no mention of it or said it was not required. They offer a lifetime warranty on the liner, cap and damper. It was a very useful and informative experience; they may be the best co. in spite of the really high price. Further research on my part is required in order to make a decision."

"I called Fairfax Chimney & Fence on Friday because we noticed the cap on our chimney had blown over.  Left a message for John who returned my call and said he'd be out Monday to take a look at it.  John arrived on time and found that he needed some more man power for the job but in the meantime I had him look at our two fireplaces and give me an estimate for cleaning and repair (the mortar on one of the fireplaces had crumbled).  The estimate was reasonable so we scheduled the work to be done.  John and his crew again showed up on time and did an excellent job on everything.  They were courteous, professional and left no trace of the work they had done.  John is friendly, meticulous, respectful and obviously knows his business and is good at it.  I would hire them again and recommend them highly. <br />"

"GREAT!! Dave Boyers came out to inspect and repair a gas fireplace that had not been working for 15 years. He worked for two hours trying to get the old Heatilator fixtures working but could not succeed. He told me that I'd have to find someone else to effect the repairs. An hour later he called me to say that he found the replacement fixtures on eBay. Today he installed the new parts, cleaned the fireplace inside and out (including the glass plate), fixed a gas leak, tested and inspected the system, and reinstalled all the hardware and screen and left the work area spotless. When he left my house after unsuccessfully making the initial repairs I did not think (nor did I ask) he would seek out the correct replacement parts. But he did, which shows his true dedication to his trade and his professionalism to his customers. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Dave Boyers for any and all fireplace repairs and services. Plus, he provided me with sound advice on how to keep the system working and how to test it for functionality."
