Reece’s Klean Sweep was founded 26 years ago by Warren Reece. In 2006 Travis, Warren’s son, took over the company to carry on the family tradition of quality service to our customers. Today we have only 2 employees to maintain quality workmanship with great detail. We serve many realty companies, estates, and bed and breakfast operations in the Asheville area.
"Travis did an excellent job sealing off a square opening in fireplace that was originally for power and cable outlets. Replaced stacked stone facade to blend seamlessly with surrounding stone. He and his crew were professional, friendly, on time and efficient. Repair was priced very fairly."

"I hired this company for the construction of my home from the concrete stage through framing. The foundation took months to complete. After the concrete had hardened and it was time to frame the company did not do their due diligence in finding lumber for framing in a timely manner and left my trusses rotting on the lot. The owner threatened to pull out of the contract all together because they weren’t getting paid ahead of time despite me paying as per our originally agreed upon payment schedule. When frames finally came and began to work, their quality of work was so bad that every contractor that has been here to work on the house since then has been disgusted and asked me “Who the h*** framed your house? They did a terrible job.” Im not in the sheet rocking phase and I am having to patch and rig it because none of the walls are straight. GC construction was also in charge of the roofing. For months buckets of water would flow into the home when it would rain. Only when I got up on the roof myself and addressed the problem did anything get truly fixed. On many occasions they would come out with tape and caulk and try to cheaply patch what they had not constructed properly. This only led to me having to go behind them, remove their attempt at patch repair and do it myself. My home is a $850,000 and it was build as though I was paying them to fix a trailer. The work quality is beyond terrible. Don’t ever hire them for anything other than concrete work and at that expect it to take months and several return trips for them to get it right."

Yes, permits are required for fireplace removal projects since they often involve structural modifications. These permits ensure the work meets local building codes and maintains your home's structural integrity. Permit costs range from $100 to $1,000, depending on your location and project complexity.
While contractors often handle permit applications, it's wise to confirm this is included in their service. Check with your local building department before starting any work to avoid potential complications.
The impact on home value varies by location and market preferences. In colder climates or luxury markets, removing a fireplace might decrease appeal and value. However, in warmer regions or homes with efficient heating systems, the impact may be negligible. In some cases, the additional usable space created by removing an underutilized fireplace actually enhances functionality and appeal. Consider consulting with a local real estate professional before proceeding to understand potential impacts in your specific market.
Fireplace removal project timelines vary based on complexity. Basic insert removals may take one to two days, while more extensive projects involving full chimney and fireplace demolition require five to 14 days. Masonry fireplace removal takes three to four days for the demolition phase alone, with additional time needed for structural repairs and finishing work. Weather conditions, unexpected structural issues, and inspection scheduling can all extend the overall timeline.
Yes, but removing a fireplace from a load-bearing wall requires specialized structural engineering expertise. The process involves installing temporary support structures, removing the fireplace, and adding permanent structural reinforcements such as steel beams or headers. Due to the structural complexity and safety concerns, this type of removal should never be attempted without professional expertise. Improper removal could lead to serious structural damage to your home.
