"The company rapidly responded to the service request and booked an appointment with me in a timely fashion. Technician, John, arrived on time and did call 20-30 minutes prior to arrival. He was polite, profession and respected the property. Quickly diagnosed the issue and provided me with several options after showing me and explaining the issue with the fireplace. Fortunately the parts were in his truck and he was able to quickly effect a repair. Everything was cleaned up and he even cleaned the fireplace glass insert (this is a natural gas fireplace). "I bought a really nice regency gas fireplace from South Shore Fireplace and couldn't have been happier with the way they treated me and completed the installation. They were the most attentive and considerate companies I approached which is why I went with them. We couldn't get the time of day from other fireplace stores. These guys were right on the ball from the start. Spent a lot of time going over the different stoves and options that go with them all. The installation was scheduled and went very well. Installers were very thorough and clean. This was a complete installation, needed the chimney as well as the stove. Everything was done perfectly and I couldn't be happier. Recently, the stove I picked had a recall and I was informed and updated by Scott as soon as he had news. This actually went on for a couple of months but Scott would contact me every couple of weeks and let me know what was going on. When the replacement part came in, they scheduled the work IMMEDIATELY and I met Jon, one of the senior techs and installers. Jon was on time, meticulous and thorough. Very clean and organized as you would expect a master craftsman to be. The repair went very well and made my stove run better than ever before. "I could not be happier. Obviously, I have not climbed on top of my 3 story house to look close up, but even from the ground I can see that what was clearly a rickety chimney now looks, well, rock solid. The chimney cap is in place and it clearly looks like it's going to stand for a very long time. Ted called me within minutes of me doing the search on Angie's List, but since Rock Solid was one of the companies that came up with an A rating and excellent reviews, and since he could come out very quickly, I decided to see what he said. Time frame was important here, since you could see the sky through the gaps between the bricks of the chimney, and we have solar panels near by. If a brick fell it could damage a solar panel and that would be very bad. In fact, Ted said that the best course would be to rebuild the chimney entirely, but given the solar panels he wouldn't want to take the chance. It looked rebuilt when they left today. He gave me the estimate on Tuesday and was able to make it here on Friday (today.) He *did* tell me he wasn't a morning person and wouldn't be out early, but I didn't need to be here so long as they had access to water and electricity. Well, I don't know when they arrived because I didn't hear a thing. Just when I went out I saw the ladder. They were done by 4pm and everything looked beautiful. The ground underneath was perfectly clean. I gave him a check and now I've got a fully repaired chimney that isn't going to fall down. All good! Much happiness all around. Mike and his team arrived promptly at 8:00AM to start the projects.  They started by power washing both sets of steps and preparing the work area.

On the back brick steps, they grinded out all the loose, cracked and open mortar joints in the treads, risers, sides and landing.  They repointed all these areas.  They also patched all the areas on the side of the steps that had missing or cracked stucco.  They did an amazing job, the steps look brand new.

On the stone steps on the side of the driveway, they removed the wrought iron railing, took up the bluestone treads and chiseled out all the open mortar joints in the risers.  The repointed the joints in the risers, reset all the bluestone tread and reset the wrought iron railing, anchoring it in concrete.  Again, these step look new.

As it was raining at the end of the day, Mike and the team hung tarps to protect the stairs from the moisture.  Mike came back two days later to collect the tarps and check on the work.

Would definitely use again and have already had Bay State quote on additional projects.

"Thumbs up across the board. The technician definitely knew his stuff. Was able to dismantle the Morso insert in our fireplace with little to no difficulty, and determine that having the 2nd flue cleaned was likely worth the money. And after seeing what came out of the cleaning process, there was no doubt he was right. That said, I was impressed with the cleanliness of the whole job, given how dirty the work of sweeping a chimney naturally is. He also confirmed that our chimney cap and pointing appeared to be in very good shape, which was helpful and reassuring."
