"Sooo....first, Jim is a very nice guy.  However, Jim now works in Nashville during the week and is only home to the Huntsville area on the weekends.
My first impression of him was that he was awesome.  My computer system had crashed because I pulled the plug during a thunder storm before the computer fully shut down which resulted in the computer hanging up.  Jim took my call while in Tennessee and suggested how to fix the system.  For this I am very grateful.

What happened next was I had him come and check my computer to make sure everything was working properly.  He came to my house and spent an hour tweaking it (basically running various checks on the system), for which I paid him $50.  He suggested that my laptop would work much better if I had Windows 7 and increased my RAM up to 4 GB.  He said he could install it for me for (including the RAM) for about $160.  We met the following weekend for the handoff and he loaded Window 7.  When I received the call it was ready, the bill was $227.50.  I was surprised that is was $70 more than quoted, but paid it anyways.  When I asked about the RAM, he mentioned he did not upgrade the RAM and this would be another $60.  I was a little discouraged at that point since I felt like I was being taken advantage of, but the guy is relatively nice, so I said to go ahead and order the RAM.  He did so and the following weekend was supposed to install it.  Due to some personal things in his life, he wasn't able to install it, so I picked it up since I had to go out of town and could use the IT guy at my new location to install it for me.  When we went to install the RAM, the system wouldn't let us do it since my particular type of laptop can only take 2GB of RAM max.  If Jim had gone to the crucial.com website (where he bought my RAM) and entered my computer system on it, it would have told him the max amount of RAM that could be installed on that unit.  He did not do that.  He is supposed to refund my $60 this next weekend.

I think if Jim wasn't burning the candle at both ends by having a job in Tennessee during the week and trying to run this business on the weekends, it would've been a better experience.  Perhaps taking a few extra minutes to SLOW DOWN and write out an estimate of everything he would need for the job including the prices would ensure people know up front how much the repair would/should cost so they can budget accordingly.  I think if he had taken that approach, it might've been a better experience.  So now I am stuck with a laptop that runs slower because Windows 7 uses more memory and a laptop that can't be upgraded to more RAM.  Basically, the last step which cost me almost $300 was not necessary.  If you need something simple done like coming back from a system crash, he would be okay to use.  Otherwise, for the bigger jobs, I recommend he provide a written estimate with the items he plans to do.

UPDATE:  After posting this review, I received a number of text messages from Jim commenting on the bad review.  I understand he is upset, but harassing someone about a review is not a good way to go.  My review was honest and not meant to be mean, but to let those that use Angie's list get what they pay for...an honest review of someone's experience."

He was over booked so I called Angie's list and asked for someone else since I. Had just bought a new tv and wanted to get it hung in a timely fashion After that phone call to Angie's list Seth called me and found some time to squeeze me in! I had just paid 15k to have a home theater installed a year ago, by a different company I told Seth I had the wall mounts and all the necessary hook ups for the TVs to be mounted on were in place! except for 1 where he installed A very inexpensive wall moment . Seth told me that he charged 99 dollars a man, and he needed a second man to help left and install a 65 inch tv so I agreed , ( after some reflection on this why advertise 2 hours of work for 99 dollars?) I was not even going to write a review until I noticed after reading some other reviews that Seth did this to at least one other person, I will say he does good work but it's not rocket science Just be prepared to. get your wallet out. And If money is no object this is probably a great company for you I am just a hard working man and like to feel I am getting my money's worth I WANT IT KNOWN THIS IS NO WAY A PERSONAL ATTACK ON SETH OR HIS COMPANY, EVEN THOUGH HE REFUSED TO COME BACK OUT UNLESS I BOUGHT SOMETHING ELSE FROM HIM , And as I told him this is America and if he can find someone to pay him his prices god bless him, As for me I am done looking for specials! "We called Keys Mechanical to look at our central unit which was making sick noises and obviously struggling to cool our home.  We called them based solely on the Angie's List reviews.  As anyone who has lived in the Keys for any length of time knows, just getting someone to actually show up is a feat in itself let alone someone who is competent to do the job they claim they know how to do.  My husband called, set up a time for someone to come look at the unit and then we waited to see what would happen.  Low and behold an actual AC guy showed up, a little late but he did call ahead to let us know he was running behind.  In our experience, this in itself was remarkable.  It is not unusual for contractors/workers to show up late - after all everyone is on Key West time - but it is usually that they show up as much as 2-3 hours late without the courtesy of a call, explanation or God forbid an apology.  Oftentimes they just don't bother to show up at all.  We often wonder how they keep their businesses going without doing any work.  Anyway, they showed up, performed a diagnostic, gave us the bad but not unexpected news and then proceeded to put a "bandaid" on the unit to bridge the time between getting a new unit.  Gave us an estimate, told us the cost of the day would be erased if we purchased our new unit from them.  We did check out one more source of a new central ac unit; the differance in price was amazing.  In the meantime the "bandaid" while not perfect is certainly keeping us comfortable enough to sleep at night.  We will be purchsing our new unit from them; at that time will probably write another glowing review.

"Went well to this point of replacing parts. Then the United needed to have a system leak test and then needed freon put in pump. This was refused by Choice warranty. We were left with a partial repair and a heat pump not able to do it's job."
