"Replace old front doorknob assembly. Also add chain lock on inside door. Arrived shortly after we called. Got the work done right away. Left the area clean and neat. Showed us how everything worked."

"Yes I had raanan and he was amazing it’s him and his wife and they are awesome people. I dropped my keys down a sewer at 12am in the morning and he came to me in Owings mills at 130 am from Rockville md with urgency and got me a key for my 2024 dodge Durango in no time and it was raining and that didn’t stop him he’s a great locksmith I refer him to anyone and I give him seven stars tow over the five ‼️"

"Work was performed with outstanding professionalism and courtesy. His unquestionable expertise was particularly evident in the removal and reassembly of the complex storm door lock. He provided pros and cons of type of lock for the rear house door, facilitating an informed decision on our part. All around superior representation of the company.Wish I had included minimum 15% tip. for this deserving professional."

FAQs for locksmith service projects in Washington DC, DC

The installation timeframe varies based on door preparation and lock complexity. For doors already prepared with appropriate holes, installation might take 15 to 30 minutes. New installations requiring drilling take one to two hours. First-time DIY installers should allocate additional time to ensure proper alignment and function. Professional locksmiths complete standard installations efficiently due to their specialized tools and experience.

Most residential doors can accommodate deadbolts, but certain door types present challenges. Solid wood and fiberglass doors accept standard deadbolt hardware, while metal doors require specialized drilling equipment. Hollow-core interior doors lack the structural integrity to properly support deadbolts without additional reinforcement. Doors should be at least 1⅜ inches thick to properly house standard deadbolt mechanisms.

Door warranties remain valid when deadbolts are installed according to the manufacturer's guidelines. However, improper installation that damages the door structure might affect warranty coverage.

Before modifying any door under warranty, review the documentation for specific limitations or requirements regarding hardware installation. Some manufacturers provide templates or guidelines for acceptable lock placement to maintain warranty protection.

Rekeying offers a more economical alternative to complete replacement when you need to change access, but the lock mechanism remains in good condition. This process involves reconfiguring the internal pins to work with a new key while retaining the existing hardware. For homeowners with multiple locks, rekeying provides the convenience of using a single key for all entry points while maintaining security.
