"It took forever to finally get on the schedule to have the work done once we contracted with them and got the parts ordered. There was also a little confusion over the gas burner that we could have with the log set we had ordered. I think we started the process in early November and were told we would have it done in the first couple weeks of December. We kept being told that there were others on the schedule ahead of us that needed to be completed. We finally got it scheduled and were told it would be a 2-3 day job. I believe the installation took place the week of January 15. It ended up being the full week, but the workers were very diligent, hard working, and cleaned up after themselves very completely. They even braved some extreme weather conditions to get up on the roof and install the chimney liner. We were very happy with the finished product and would have been more irritated with the delays in getting scheduled if we were actually occupying the house at the time. We moved in a couple weeks after the job was completed and have really enjoyed our new fireplace!

"Existing brick porch was breaking apart at mortar joints and brick was breaking and falling away along entire perimeter. I contacted 4 contractors - only 2 replied. D & S came out the same day and provided a quote on the spot. Their price was lower and I had a better feeling about them then the other contractor. They started the job 2 days later and did a tremendous job! We could not be happier. The general foreman Greg was exceptional and really cared about doing an A1 job. I was worried that my bushes would have to be cut back as they encroached around the porch - Greg and his guys worked with me to get them tied back - no trimming was required! I HIGHLY recommend these guys!!!"

"Lee is the best, hands down. I own a rental property in Ferndale and the city requires an inspection of the fireplace every two years. Lee is the only person I have ever used and he is always on time, super friendly, always does a great job cleaning the fireplace and then cleaning up. I've also used him for the random one off repair like patching broken concrete steps and also patching around the foundation of my brick house.
He is fair, has great pricing, does a great job, and is a wonderful guy. Look no further than Lee, trust me!

"My home is older and unfortunately, Nick had to work with uneven walls, but did an excellent job of concealing the blemishes with his tile work."

"After looking at our two repair jobs, Nosh explained in detail the work he proposed to do and the cost for each. He discussed the options with us for fixing the front porch brick, and we agreed with his recommendation to replace all of the bricks rather than a piecemeal brick by brick replacement (about half of the bricks were bad). Nosh impressed us with his knowledge and professional manner, so we decided to have him do the work.
Nosh started in immediately, going to three different brick sources until he found bricks that would be a close match to the bricks on our house. He started work on the porch promptly the next morning, arriving early in the morning and working until late afternoon when it started to rain. He returned early again the next day and finished the chimney late that afternoon. When working on the chimney, he had planned to replace 5 or 6 courses of bricks on the chimney, but found he had to go down about 9 courses instead (he had to buy additional bricks to complete the job). He did not charge for the extra bricks or additional labor. He also discovered a cracked section of flue, which he replaced for only the wholesale cost of the flue liner. He also replaced one brick on the front of the house that had cracked, and again didn't charge for the extra work.
We are very pleased with the final result. Nosh did excellent work, and clearly takes great pride in doing a quality job. He goes the extra mile to make sure everything is right, and when he finds additional unforeseen issues, he corrects them to make it right (the cracked flue liner is a great example). He leveled a section of concrete sidewalk in front of the porch, and reset and secured the concrete step up to the porch at no extra charge. He took the time to find the right bricks to match the bricks from 2 decades ago used on our brick house - you'd never notice the bricks had been replaced. Plus he's a fun guy to talk to.

"Bill was on time and did a perfect job with a challenging task (our fireplace exterior, being stone, is extremely uneven). He did extra work to seal the doors to the stone and it looks gorgeous! I told him the week since he fixed our damper had greatly eliminated the cold blasts that had been entering the house, and this should completely solve the problem. The work Bill did was far better than anything we could have done and it looks terrific. It adds to the value of our home and increases our comfort.
I learned that Dr. Sweep also does masonry work (such as tuck pointing and cement repairs) and I will definitely hire them again.

"In below-freezing temps, Art of Stone replaced or chimney cap, and did a complete tune-up of our gas log system, in timely manner, and at a reasonable price. So glad to have our fireplace back in working condition!"

"Gary repaired the two brick buttresses that had pulled away
from the main front porch by using a mortar formulated with latex to expand and
contract to allow for changes in climate conditions. The structural wing on the
left side of my home was deconstructed and rebuilt after Gary poured a
foundation footing below the frost line to prevent another occurrence of
fracturing through ice forming beneath the brickwork. I was very impressed by Gary?s
enthusiasm to solve a masonry problem. Gary has an inquisitive nature as to why
and what conditions would cause masonry to fail. He asked the age of the
building and noted that the stone work incorporated an old but very secure
interlocking method of brick setting.I had asked Gary for a cost estimate for replacing
a concrete approach on my front porch as well as the cost installing a single concrete step for the side porch.
I plan to have this work completed before the snow flies. Later I will get a price on demo and replacing
the floor in my two car garage. I would highly recommend Gary for his quality of work, pricing and timely
manner in getting the job done!
