"We bought our house in 2014 and brought in the Chimney Chap to do a routine cleaning in 2015, having never used our fireplace before. We knew that it was questionable and wanted to have it looked at before using it. As it turned out, the previous owners had painted the chimney to hide loose bricks and it was definitely not safe for use. Within a couple of days, we had a full estimate of the work that would need to be done - demolishing the chimney to the roof line and rebuilding. The earliest they could fit us in was the spring since we had our chimney cleaned in the late fall. We scheduled them for three days in June. The office was very easy to work with and our chimney looks great, they even built it up a bit higher than code. ".first of all, out of 3 companies I called, he was the only one who returned my call. (and I left messages twice at the others.)  He was very concerned about whether i had an alternative heat source and if i did not he would have come as soon as he finished the job he was on.  The problem proved to be green fire wood.  Since he used to do logging and firewood, he was able to explain to me in detail what to look for in seasoned wood and why mine clearly was not.  Once he produced some seasoned wood, the fire burned just fine. I have since had another load of wood delivered and all is well
