"We highly recommend Derek for your next remodel project. Our project included a major Kitchen redesign, as well as tile and cabinetry in two Bathrooms. From our very first meeting with Derek, he brought creative design ideas to help us reimagine our spaces to achieve the bright and open concept we were looking for. This was a large project requiring multiple trades which Derek sourced and managed. It all went very smoothly and through each step, Derek worked closely with us to ensure every small detail met our expectations. His suggestions for tweaks here and there resulted in not only beautiful ascetics but, the best possible function as well. Thank you for everything Derek; you are a fabulous craftsman and a great guy! Tom and Lisa"

"Our customer experience with this company started with the initial call. Robert (the owner) called and explained the process for doing the estimate and the project. He wasn't a high pressure sales rep. He clearly wanted to help us make the best decision. Robert was thorough in the preparation of the estimate and contract. He explained everything and was very detailed. Robert pushed out some walls to get more room in the kitchen, breakfast nook and laundry room. Per Roberts recommendation, we removed soffits to give more height to the rooms which resulted in moving wiring and duct work. The subcontractors were all professional, respectful and worked very hard. The electrician team worked late in the evening to get the work done. We added new cabinets to the laundry room and kitchen. They turned out absolutely beautiful and high quality. The gentleman who built and installed the cabinets was meticulous and produced a quality result. Robert and his son, Bronson, were always available and resolved any issues and questions. We love the results as does everyone who has seen the work. We have heard horror stories about broken promises people have experienced when doing a remodel. We feel so lucky to have been referred to Freak Dog Construction! We are getting ready to do an addition to our second story and we wouldn't want to use anyone else! This is a company you can trust and feel confident to use."

"Bob and his helper did a nice job. We had some remodeling done and needed a large area in the ceiling replaced. The problem we ran into was a delay form the other contractor because of a permit problem. Bob was very patient in waiting his turn and then came right away and did a great job. Highly recommend."

"Russ has oversaw several projects on several homes for another company in the past. I arranged for Russ to come take care of the Master Bath in my most recent home purchased and as expected Russ hit a home run. Perfect work and very very please with the outcome."

HomeAdvisor makes it easy to connect with pros near you. You can read reviews, get quotes and book appointments all in one place.
Depending on the type of project, you may find subtle differences in the hiring process. Here’s a look at task-specific advice.
You can use HomeAdvisor to help evaluate a contractor’s qualifications. We put pros through a screening process, and award badges to high-performing contractors. You can find these badges on a pro’s HomeAdvisor profile, and sometimes, his or her website.
Your research doesn’t stop here. Once you’ve found a few prospective companies, make an call to ask a few questions about work history, licensure and more:
In most cases, the responses you get to these three questions will give you a very good idea of the right pro for your project. If you have more than one front-runner, these additional questions can help you narrow it down.
Any good contractor will answer these questions, and most will appreciate dealing with a client that takes such an active interest in finding good service. On the other hand, if a contractor gives you a hard time with these questions, you probably want to find someone else.
