"Work was done as promised. Complications for firebox rebuild were discovered and remedied without additional cost. Repairs to the chimney liners was done much less expensively than I thought possible without tearing into the brickwork. It seems that the owner treats his workers with respect. There is a team atmosphere on the job. He has more long-term employees than I have seen in companies that hire tradesmen."

"Very well! Scott showed up when he said he would, gave me a fair estimate, did a meticulous job of repairing my backyard fireplace and all the loose mortar on my brick ranch. I was very pleased with his work!"

"I looked for 20 years for someone to repair my bowing/disintegrating foundation/basement wall of my near century home. I found the right team at Koontz. Granted, I had to wait a bit, but it was worth it. They began by getting everything approved by the city and the Landmark Commission. They excavated and demoed the existing wall to footer depth, formed and poured a new footer, built a new wall, and added brick veneer. They also installed new windows, perorated drain tile and new window wells. The surprise came when they inspected existing the downspout pipe and found blockage, so they installed new downspout drain and tied in 3 additional downspouts. Every step of the way they tried to accommodate my persnickety requests, saving my plantings and my existing brick so I could repurpose. They even helped me fix my wheelbarrow. Everyone was delightful, courteous, and respectful."

"Excellent! I called Thompson's Masonry for an estimate on chimney work. Bob came out within 45 minutes of the phone call and determined that we needed some repairs on our chimney, not a complete rebuild as had been told to us by other companies that had come out (rebuild prices ranging from $1500 to over $4000!). He also pointed out some tuckpointing that needed done on other brick on our house. He said he could do the work the next day. The price and timing were perfect, so we hired him. He showed up the next morning when he said he would (he was even a little early...bonus points!) and worked all day. He communicated with me throughout the day re: the progress. He was always courteous, respectful, and just a nice guy! The whole process was a positive one. The finished chimney and tuckpointing look great! I am so thankful I found Thompson's Masonry on Angie's List and we have already recommended him to friends who need masonry work. Thank you, Bob, for the excellent responsiveness, punctuality, professionalism, and GREAT workmanship!!!"

"Everything went great for this service call. Booked the appointment for a date/time that was convenient, and they offered a 2 hour window of time for the technician to arrive. They phoned the day before the appointment to confirm everything. Dean, the technician, arrived on site within the time window specified (they were on the early side of the time window, which was great). Dean did a very thorough job of inspecting and cleaning our fireplace, and was quite friendly and knowledgeable as well. He took care to make sure and tarp the area where he was working to protect the carpet and cleaned up and put everything back just as it was found. We will definitely use them again for future fireplace needs..."

"First of all, let me just say this - if you are planning <strong>ANY</strong> fireplace work in the Greater Cleveland area and you <strong>DON'T </strong>call Randy, <em>you are doing yourself a HUGE disservice</em>!! <br /> Randy was the ultimate professional from the very first contact.  He responded to my message promptly and arrived for an estimate at the stated time, after calling ahead to assure me he was on his way.  He assessed the job, gave us tons of free advice, which included telling us where we might source the stone we were looking for, and recommending several dealers for the purchase of the gas insert.  He also warned us of some potential rip off companies. <br /> Our project was to raise the level of the hearth two courses of bricks, find and install a stone slab across the top of the hearth, and find and install the direct gas insert.  After giving us an estimate and providing the sourcing information, he assured us he could do the job in the time frame we desired. <br /> We went out to the Kipton Quarry in Oberlin, Ohio and met the owner who raved about Randy.  He showed us lots of stone, and we stood next to the huge saw he uses to cut stone - amazing.  He then gave us an unbelievable price on the size we wanted.  He asked for our email address and later that week he sent pictures of several fresh cut pieces of the type we wanted.  We picked out a beautiful and unique slab of limestone with a brown swirling color  that we would never have found anywhere else (Highly Recommend this quarry if you need stone). <br /> Next we visited two of the shops Randy recommended for the gas insert, and Rick at Heat Exchange on Lorain Road in N Ridgeville was a great source of more information and advice and helped us pick out the proper insert for our project.  Then, he gave us an <em>outstanding </em>deal on the insert and accessories, primarily because we mentioned Randy's name!  <br /> We called Randy to set up the install date and here is the BEST part - Randy went out and picked up the stone and the gas insert himself, and then arrived at the precise time he stated.  He and his assistant were all business as they first laid down tarps and prepared the work area, then removed the old fireplace screen and unit.  They very quickly completed all the tasks, cleaned up all the mess from the job, had the insert working perfectly and explained the operation.  They took NO breaks and even skipped lunch, working about five hours straight to finish the job. <br /> Honestly, it was such a relief to have a true professional complete our project.  We are now planning to have our entire fireplace updated with new stone to replace the old dated red brick ... and of course, no one but these guys will be called. <br />"
