"It was suppose to be a chimney sweep and inspection.  I passed on the chimney sweep/inspection and requested it be closed because I will only burn candles in the fireplace.  The fireplace was swept.  I asked if the build up the walls could be clean off.  I was told yes; for sixty dollars.  The sweeper checked with his boss to see if he had time to do it.  The sweeper came back and reported his boss said no because the fireplace was too old.   The fireplace was built 1956; so I don't know if it true.  Now that it is summer my air condition still draws smokey air from the fireplace and blows it around the house.  So my problem was not resolved and the plastic goes back on the fire place.

"Fire resulted in the damage of the siding on two sides of our house. The trick was going to be finding the exact, or closely matching, siding to the sides that were not going to be replaced.
Bob spent a great deal of time, first, trying to match the remaining siding with sample swatches, and when that wasn't successful, he did a significant amount of work to find exactly what siding was on the house and hunting out where it could be found.  Luckily, we were able to match the roughly 9 year old siding exactly at a local supplier.
Bob made contact about a week before the siding was to be delivered giving a heads up and asking where I'd like the boxes placed.  I gave him my preferred location and the delivery personnel followed my wishes exactly.
A few days later, Bob called again saying they'd be out to start the job the next day. Good communication as the job approached.
On job day, the siding contractors arrived  around 9:00 a.m. and went right to work. There were approximately 5 men who worked continuously throughout the day.  Mid afternoon I asked about progress and was surprised to hear they expected to be completely finished within a few hours.  Bob had initially thought the job would take 1 1/2 to 2 days to complete, so I was happy to hear it was going to be finished in one day. Cleanup was perfect, all old siding and scraps from the job were removed and the surroundings looked as they did before the job.
The siding work itself was great.  Detail work was perfect and the new siding matches the old exactly. Couldn't be happier with the job that was done, and wouldn't hesitate contacting Bob again for future house matters.

"Brandon and Crew (2) were very hard working tackling this huge project. Digging to the foundation, redoing drain tile, sealing and coring walls was all done with quality materials. Brandon explained the process clearly as it progressed. Kept me informed on each day's plan. The clay was rock hard, and much of the job had to be hand dug, but the guys were amazing getting through it. This work is messy and can be brutal on the landscape, but Hart left my place looking better than it started. I made a special request that they save seven, 8 ft tall Burning Bushes and replant. Brandon was very accommodating in staging them elsewhere on the property during the 2 weeks of waterproofing, and then prepping their return to the area. Landscaping was completed with attractive River Rock. We are dry, and the landscaping looks fantastic !!! Great Job !!! (with Lifetime Warranty)"

"Scheduling was pretty poor, with serious communication drops and failures, within the organization. In the end the workers they sent were adequate. The main mason was fairly skilled and responsive to our desires, if not pleased with our suggestions. The secondary worker was not skilled nor very helpful. On the whole the hearth looks good, not "terrific". I had to finish one area of drywall they left unfinished, and unpainted, and had to touch up several areas. They were contracted to complete all finish work. My tools had to be used to complete the job, as the worker did not follow a good plan and was left having to correct tile areas (which all should have been installed after the hearth was built, we felt, not before the hearth was started). His tools and skills would have left a pretty unfinished look to the project. BUT, he did respond to our suggestions and was able to pretty much finish the job. He was , for the most part, though overbooked by his employer, able to nearly complete the job in a satisfactory manner. Due to their inability to get the products they were to install, we are still waiting for completion of the fireplace refacing internally."

"Chimney flues were replaced. Brick at the top of chimney was replaced - matches nicely.  Front steps were rebuilt with new brick and using the original sandstone tops. Mortar was dyed to match existing mortar.  Great job!

"They did a fine job on the porch, however a year or so later there was a small drip in the porch.  I contacted them numerous times on each of the phone numbers I had for them.  I got very mad as I continued to call and months went by without a response.  When I did get a call back, I was told they had taken a big job out of town and they had been swamped with work.
Just before that return call, my last message was that I was going to call the insurance company and file a claim, and if J&V thought there was a better way to resolve this leak, that they could at least just leave me a message and tell me what to do.
Before this porch job, I had J&V replace the shingles on another house.  The workmanship is good, they are a good value.  I really thought J&V was my go-to-company for all my roofing needs.  But this leaking porch problem was a big pain to get them to respond.
The final fix was just to caulk a few places where the porch meets the brick house.
So much aggravation could have been alleviated with a call back.

**UPDATED 10-3-2013**

The roof leaked again in two spots and John promptly came out to oversee the repairs.  They removed half the roof's shingles and found that the roof sagged from where it was sistered.  The wood work was performed by J&V when they did the initial work, so they fixed the sag, and replaced the shingles.  All is well now."
