"Jim was professional and an expert in figuring out what was faulty. He identified that we needed to replace the gas valve and not only installed a new one but also restored the embers as well. We are thrilled, and we and our landlord will recommend Jim to anyone needing fireplace installation or repairs. Jim was also very respectful and punctual. Jim was also incredibly courteous and generous with his time especially because we have a cancer patient in our apartment. Thank you Jim!"

"I contacted 1 hour chimney and spoke with Juliette. She was not only polite but extremely patient at explaining the process for getting the job done. Tony and his team did an amazing job at a reasonable price. I contacted 1 Hour Chimney again for some aesthetic work for the fireplace. Tony gave me the best advice free of charge which saved me a few hundred dollars. I can't thank the team enough for their service! Danielle T."

"I highly recommend Milestone Restoration. Since a 1920 Brownstone was being restored, it required a mason that was knowledgeable with the care of old bricks. In searching for a mason, Milestone Restoration became the top choice after reading Mik has an engineering background and masonry experience with Brownstones. When Mik came to look at the re-pointing / painting project of the entire 4 story exterior back wall, he knew exactly what needed to be done and the correct mortar for the old bricks. Mik is smart, professional but more importantly responsive whenever I contacted him. I was very happy with the outcome of the 1st project. So much so that I called Mik again to retain Milestone Restoration for two more different masonry projects with the house."

"They were great! Refused to charge me since they thought I did not need a cleaning done. They inspected the fireplaces and gave me a credit towards future work on them. We will call them back when we are ready to begin work."

"This provider SAVED US $ 4000.00
They arrived as scheduled and made a careful un-rushed evaluation of our chimney/fireplace inside and out top to bottom and discussed their findings , answering all questions.
This was an amazing experience with the most honest and professional experts ever ! We had just been told by another chimney person that we needed a $4000.00 repair of our chimney- including a liner, new bricks and other stuff or we were at some safety risks. Also that the work needed to be done ASAP.
We called 5 Star. We did not tell them we had had other estimates as we wanted him to be free to give us the best price and information. He took him time , looked at all the parts we had been told needed repair and said they were fine with one minor job we could do ourselves- he told us how-. The previous contractor told us that debris in what we thought was a chimney clean out were cracked tiles fallen from the chimney. NOT CORRECT. It was not even a chimney clean out! And the liner that was recommended by the apparently dishonest contractor would not have fit our chimney. This man, Tim , is no-nonsense and totally honest. We would hire them again in a flash because of their knowledge and there commitment to honesty."

"Seals well enough to keep out any air from coming down chimney, but because of old one being cut out of metal firebox, some cold air still radiates into fireplace and out into rec room during really cold weather. New damper is spring loaded which makes it difficult for my girlfriend to close. Also they kept cancelling appointments stating they had emergency calls they had to handle first. Finally came on 4th or 5th appointment. Did show up in scheduled time window, did work in about one hour, and left work area in clean condition. This was the most efficient way to do the repairs because of the way the fireplace was built and to replace everything would have been cost prohibitive plus not feasible because of the stone work on the fireplace which is a hard to find lava rock. Biggest negative was the numerous cancellations."

"A few weeks ago, high winds blew off my chimney cap. It was installed 15 years ago by a supposedly reputable chimney sweep along with the installation of what was supposed to be a "full length" chimney liner. He also tarred the chimney above roof line.
With my being somewhat afraid of heights, my wife found very good reviews of Safety First Chimney & Fireplace Restoration on another online review site and made an appointment for Tuesday 4/12. Vincent showed up promptly to replace the cap. It took all of 3 minutes. He showed me a few pictures of my chimney on his phone. I was shocked to discover how deteriorated it was! Half the tar was gone, there were big chunks of mortar missing from between the bricks and some were even shifted out of place. You didn't have to be an expert to see that it needed a complete rebuild. He also mentioned that the liner material was very flimsy. Being thorough he asked to check the base of the chimney at the boiler and discovered that the liner didn't even go to the bottom. He called me down to see for myself. That was the moment I decided I liked and trusted Vincent. He involved me, and let me see with my own eyes what the issues were! Knowing that such an essential aspect of my home should not be ignored, I agreed to have all matters addressed, and made another appointment for Friday 4/15.
Demolition was quick due to the poor condition of the old chimney. Vincent then removed the old liner. It was only 15' long, falling about 7' short of the furnace connector! He also showed me a piece of the liner. It really was "coffee can thin" and filled with ridges on the inside which collected soot and particles. He installed a smooth core, heavy stainless steel, double walled liner.
Next came the "roof up" chimney rebuild. Vincent offered a choice of new or old brick. I opted for old brick, in keeping with my old house. I am very pleased with the masonry work! I'm no expert but I've laid a few bricks in my time and can really appreciate what a nice job it is. Everything's straight, level, well spaced and proportioned. He even topped it with a red clay flu liner. Something my old chimney didn't have. And of course he replaced my old stainless cap which was just fine. It's so nice I wish I could upload a picture here. He posts pics on his website so maybe you can see it there.
Highly recommended!
