One my most important responsibilities is to identify and evaluate companies based on several performance measures. The three core measures are competitiveness, quality and speed. We have the saying "you only get to pick two, but can't have all three". Fine floors has proven to be an exception to that rule. The owners have created an amazing culture and I've had a great experience every time I've come in. Competitiveness - It's my job to the know market prices and I have a base line price before getting estimates on anything. While this isn't true for every product line they carry, they have negotiated prices with product suppliers that allow them offer very competitive prices. Now, I'm not talking about the cheap and overstock type product like you see advertised at some stores . I'm talking some the best flooring collections on the market. On the other side of things, they have well trained and efficient installers which of course lowers their cost making them competitive in that area as well. Quality - I've already covered the product they carry, but it's the quality of service that sets them apart. They love what they do and it shows. They are very well informed on their products and are happy to sit down with you and explain the differences. Despite spending a significant amount of time researching products, I can't be an expert on all the products in every field related to remodels and construction. I reply on companies and individuals that have earned my trust to educate me, explain the most important considerations and guide me to finding the best solution to unique projects. I can't over state my confidence in how well they know their business and details of the products they carry. The final element highlighting the quality of service they have is their design work. I've only worked with the co-owner Jacqueline, but her advice and insight was invaluable when I remodeled my home. I work with a highly skilled architect and regularly do basic design layouts myself, however I don't offer fashion advice or I would be unemployed. Jackie saved the day and sent me home a hero when I struggling with bringing everything together. I came in with photos and a vague ideal of what I wanted. Turns out my wife (or anyone) wasn't going to love the ancient Egyptian theme with Victorian era elements and abstract artwork. She broke out color charts, fashion books and examples on the web to help me get a clue. In the end most of plans changed the remodel came out perfect and my wife does hate me.

"From initial meeting to final clean up, I was very satisfied with Rene Alcala and his brother. Rene came on a Thursday to check out our wall. He carefully looked it over, listened to my concerns and explained the work they would do. He asked if it would be okay to have his brother come do the work on Saturday. I was so happy they were able to fit me in to their busy schedule. They do big jobs, but Rene made me feel like our small job was just as important as the large jobs he was currently doing. His brother was just as courteous and professional when he came on Saturday to repair our wall. He asked me if I had any questions or concerns before he started. He meticulously checked and repaired grout lines in our Texas fossilized limestone wall for over six hours. When he felt he found everything, but before cleaning up and putting his grout away, he asked me to come look and see if he got everything. I so appreciated that! When staring at lines and lines of grout, it is easy to miss a little something and he was professional and courteous enough to ask me to do a final check BEFORE he put his materials and tools away. When he was done, he did a thorough job cleaning up and I was thrilled with the final result. They did an excellent job matching our existing grout and a quality repair. They were courteous and professional, and made me feel like our job was just as important as the large jobs they had going on. We have another project to do this summer, and I will definitely be calling Alcala Masonry to help us!"

"Steve, the roof inspector for Integrity Roofing, arrived promptly and spent considerable time on the roof and inside the attic to find the source of the leaks. His inspection revealed that shingles were cut in several areas around the "turtle vents" (probably during installation). Insulation in the attic showed signs where the water pooled up directly under the vents before leaking below through the sheetrock. Steve took several photos (which he shared with me) and prepared an estimate to repair the roof. He even went back up and put sealer over the areas for a temporary fix as more rain was a possibility. Steve was honest and told me that first I should call the builder (even though the warranty had just expired) because he said it was definitely related to builder/contractor error and any reputable builder should repair it. And he was right! After sending the photos to the builder, their rep. came out and found that in addition to the cut shingles the vents were not even secured in place. The builder agreed to repair the roof as it was the first heavy rain that we experienced since buying the house. Many thanks for the prompt and ethical way that Steve handled our situation."
