"Fantastic experience from beginning to end. I'm very happy I went with Joe's company. They are absolute professionals and I could see everyday watching their progress, that they are concerned with quality. Joe had great communication with me throughout the whole process, and they were able to finish on time despite all the rain we were getting. I will definitely hire him again in the future for any masonry."

"The guys that came to my house were Jerry and Ricky. They were really easy-going, covered their shoes before they came into my house and were really nice to dogs that were barking like crazy. They were really kind to my little boy that seemed to talk them to death.
After the repair, they came back out two times to make sure that everything was still working fine, at no charge.
I would definitely use them again.

"I highly recommend Gary & Richard. There was a lot of work done, and it was done exceptionally! The entrance, exit, and restroom doors to my restaurant were in great need of repair. The doors are used heavily. Richard was very thorough and has an excellent eye for detail and takes enormous pride in his work. If you need a Handy Man Service, go with Gary's Handyman Service! Sincerely, Isaac Evans - Cary, NC."

"They did a really good job. The work only took two days. They came out one day to do the prep work and the next to put the roof on. They were very nice and courteous to work with. They did not make a mess and I would highly recommend them. The roof has held up great. We had one thing happen to the roof afterwards and they came out and repaired the roof due to a tree falling on it. Compared to the other service providers the cost of the roof from them was very well priced. There was no high pressure sales pitch and we felt very comfortable with them in our home. They came on time for all of their visits and whatever they said they would do, they completed and followed up on the work. They worked hard both days they were at my home and worked complete days."

"The repairs went OK. One month later the replacement board split the full
length. I have called twice to discuss options to fix it and have no
response to my voice mail. I will now send a communication via Angie's
message system.

"The replacement board on the step has cracked. I am attaching a picture. I would like to have the defective board replaced.DSCF0001.JPG(2447KB)DSCF0002.JPG(2437KB)
R Harward Construction11/23/2015If
you have not painted or stain decking board it will crack. We do not
make the wood. We just install it. If you would like to purchase another
board and have us come back out we can. We will charge $99.00 for a
service call. Or you could caulk and paint board and you want need to
replace it. Thanks Randy
Patt Cowder11/24/2015Your
carpenter told me that it was treated wood and should be allowed to
cure for at least 2 months before painting. I don't think any treated 1 X
12 I have ever used has split the full length after installation. Your
guys were supposed to come with a 1X12X12ft to cover not only the step
but the full section of the porch. They called to say their local Home
Depot only had 1X12X8Ft. and I agreed that would work to replace the bad
wood. I will now find someone to replace your work with good wood and
stand by my critique of your work on Angie's list."

I was contacted personally by the owner.almost immediately
after message to apologize for his employee's responses to the problem.
He came by and fixed it the next day.  |Patt Cowder

"When we met Van with Consolidated Roofing, we were won over by his professionalism and friendly personality. We had an excellent experience with every aspect of our roofing job.
They arrived when expected and completed each task just as Van had detailed they would. We were most impressed by the way the crew cleaned up. We found absolutely not one nail on the ground when they finished.
About 5 years later, I noticed a water spot on the ceiling and they responded quickly and easily repaired the gap up on the roof at no charge.

"Over 2 days Don and his assistance replaced an exterior door, fixed multiple window drip sills, replaced rotten side battens, re-built an interior window frame that had water damage, and fixed a shed door and floor. They also painted these repaired areas. The actual cost for the work, time and materials, were on target with his estimates and the work was fantastic. They were efficient and took care to clean up as they went along. The workmanship was much better than I could ever do myself even if I had the time. I will have him back soon to help with more projects."

FAQs for brick or stone fireplace repair projects in Raleigh, NC

Permit requirements for fireplace insert removal vary by location and project scope. While removing an electric insert rarely requires permits, gas insert removals often do because they involve modifications to gas lines. Some municipalities also require permits for changes to structural elements or venting systems. Check with your local building department before beginning your project. Professional fireplace services typically handle permit acquisition as part of their package.

Removing a fireplace insert can potentially impact your home's value. Since fireplaces are desirable features in many housing markets, removing an insert (especially if it eliminates the fireplace's functionality) might negatively affect your property value. If you're planning to sell your home soon, consider keeping the fireplace intact. For homeowners planning to stay long-term, the potential energy efficiency gains from removing an inefficient fireplace might outweigh future resale considerations.

The time required to remove a fireplace insert depends on several factors, including the type of insert, its installation complexity, and whether structural modifications are needed. Professional removal services can typically complete the job in a single day, though complex situations involving gas lines, electrical work, or structural changes may require additional time. Your removal specialist should provide a time estimate based on your specific situation.

Many fireplace inserts contain recyclable materials, particularly metal components that can be processed at scrap facilities. Working inserts in good condition, especially wood-burning models, might have resale value. Before disposal, consider checking with recycling centers, architectural salvage shops, or online marketplaces to explore options for giving your old insert a second life. This approach can be both environmentally responsible and potentially offset some of your removal costs.
