Small jobs welcome

"I am in the process of purchasing a home and dealing with all the run around has been daunting at best. I figured finding a home inspector while being out of state was going to be another weeks long task, but Jeff Allen was a breath of fresh air. He was quick to respond, got on my project within a couple days and had the report to me within 36 hrs. He did a thorough inspection and the report he wrote was very thorough and included photos of the issues. He has even been extremely responsive afterwards and checked back in to make sure I didn't have any questions and that I understood everything. He even told me that when I was ready to have the non essential work done to contact him and he would help me find contractors. I would definitely recommend Allen Home Inspections to anyone needing the work done especially if you don't understand the process or are concerned about finding a reliable person to do the job. Updated 3/9/2026 --I am a complete dipxxxx, the cost of the inspection was $300 not $30,000 - do not use a decimal point when leaving your review lol"

There are many choices when choosing a home inspector. Price should be one of the things you ask, however, don’t make price your only consideration. Ask around. Friends, neighbors, Realtors, people you work with, etc. When speaking to an inspector ask about licenses, credentials, insurance and continuing education. Be well informed on what you’re getting for your money. I began in the home renovation business buying and selling houses (doing the work myself) for approximately 6 years and I have been in the inspection business full time for approximately 10 years now. I’ve performed over 3,000 inspections. I believe continuing education is the best way to stay on top of my business so I now belong to The National Association of Home Inspectors (NAHI). This organization requires testing and continuing education. NAHI requires 16 hours continuing education. Ask this question when interviewing inspectors. I also carry very good liability and Errors and Omissions insurance provided by FREA.

FAQs for complete home inspection projects in Columbus, GA

An electrical inspection usually takes one to two hours. During the inspection, your electrician will follow the National Electrical Code (NEC) to ensure your home is safe and up to legal safety standards. They'll check your electrical system, including wires, appliances, meter box, panel, circuit breakers, and more.

Afterward, you'll receive a detailed checklist of everything they examined, along with a report highlighting any urgent issues—often with photos. They might also offer tips on how to save energy and improve your system's efficiency.

Regular electrical inspections protect your home and family by ensuring that every part of your electrical system operates safely. Scheduling inspections reduces the risk of electrical fires and cuts high insurance premiums by detecting problems early. Inspections defend against hidden system failures and maintain your property’s overall value, making them an essential part of home maintenance.

Full home electrical inspections are essential when buying a new home because every wiring detail must be evaluated. If you are not purchasing a home and have no significant concerns, a basic safety inspection is sufficient. However, for older properties or homes that have not been inspected for a long time, a comprehensive inspection is required to detect hidden issues and ensure complete safety.
