"James came out the same day I contacted him. He was very thorough and provided a very reasonable approach (and price) to improve the insulation in my home. His team arrived when promised to complete the job. They were also conscientious and customer focused. James inspected their work and repeated his assssment of the home to ensure that their work had improved the areas of concern. Great experience. I would highly recommend. Good people and good professionals."

First of all, after over three months, we're still waiting for the city inspection to take place.  We had hoped everything would be done before writing our review.  We do not anticipate any problems, but will update if there are.

When we decided to replace our leaky system that had had multiple failures, we solicited bids from three companies that all met high criteria:  A+ ratings from the Better Business Bureau, an A rating from Angie's List, and multiple installations performed in our immediate area.  Even in this excellent group, in the end, the proposal from Annette Hale's Indoor Comfort Systems was the clear winner.

Greg came to our home on March 27.  He listened to us describe the problems we were having with our old system, what we hoped to have with a new one, looked everything over including crawling into every nook and cranny in the ceiling following the existing duct work (something  the other two companies we had providing estimates didn't do).  We were impressed with Greg's thoroughness, knowledge, and professionalism.  On 3/31/2014, he emailed us the extent of the work to be done and a first estimate. This estimate was the only one of the three to include the model numbers of each item proposed and to break out optional items in separately priced line items. We asked for a couple of changes and received the final estimate on 4/2/2014, when we, after much research and review-reading, chose this company.  Not only was their proposal the best technically, but the cost was 2,000.00 less than the other two bids and the proposed system came with a 1,000.00 manufacturer's rebate as well.

The two-day job began on 4/15/2014.  Charles and Martin arrived first thing in the morning and started ripping out and removing the existing duct work, fan coil unit, thermostat, and condenser.  We were very impressed with their speed!

Next they began the process of rebuilding the duct work, installing the fan coil unit, and putting the new condenser on the new pad, which took the rest of the day and part of the next.  Charles also put two new returns inside; one in the kitchen and one in the master bedroom, to improve circulation.  (The first night was unseasonably cold, down in the 30s, so two space heaters were provided to keep us warm without our heat.  It got down to 58 degrees inside but, being native New Englanders, we liked it.)

By the end of the second day, while Charles and Martin finished the duct work, Jeff and Brian arrived to do thermostat and connect the new condenser.  Another fellow arrived to help remove all the debris.  We didn't learn his name but he sang well.

Our first look at the new system and duct work was a revelation.  These gentlemen built us a work of art, with minimal angles in the duct work to facilitate maximum airflow (even changing the location of the fan coil unit to minimize ductwork turns).  Jeff and Brian walked us through the new thermostat, a vast jump in technology from the old one, to be sure we understood its functions and programming.  When we were comfortable with everything, everyone said their goodbyes and departed, having finished a clean-up so thorough that no evidence remained of the mess that was our dilapidated system.  Two days later, Shane Moore, contracted by Indoor Comfort Systems, arrived to apply blown-in insulation to bring us back up to an R38 rating.  He was also prompt, professional, and pleasant.

Our air conditioner now keeps up with the heat with a consistency of temperature that we'd not known before, keeping us much cooler and dryer.  The air purifier has greatly improved the quality of our indoor air. And despite Huntsville Utilities' recent 6% rate hike, our electricity bills are satisfyingly much lower with our new Carrier's efficiency.

We are very pleased with both company and product.  Highly recommended.

FAQs for home inspection projects in New Market, AL

Most mobile home inspections require two to three hours to complete properly. The timeline varies based on your home's size, age, and overall condition. Inspectors need sufficient time to examine all major systems, document their findings, and compile their observations.

If the inspector discovers concerning issues that warrant deeper investigation, the process may take longer. For the most thorough assessment, try to schedule your inspection during daylight hours when visibility is optimal.

Pay close attention to water damage indicators like ceiling stains, warped flooring, or musty odors. Structural concerns, including uneven floors, sagging rooflines, or doors that won't close properly, suggest potential foundation issues. Electrical problems such as flickering lights, warm outlets, or outdated wiring present serious safety hazards.

Impromptu modifications or repairs performed without proper permits often signal deeper problems. Windows that don't seal properly may indicate structural shifting or water infiltration.

Yes, professional inspectors evaluate the foundation components and anchoring mechanisms during a thorough assessment. They examine support piers, blocks, and tie-downs for proper installation and condition. The inspection includes checking for appropriate ground clearance and adequate ventilation beneath the home.

Proper anchoring is essential for stability during adverse weather conditions. Foundation issues can affect everything from door alignment to plumbing function, making this a critical part of any comprehensive inspection.

Industry professionals recommend scheduling maintenance inspections every two to three years for manufactured homes. Homes in regions with extreme weather conditions may benefit from more frequent evaluations. Consider arranging an inspection after significant storms or if you notice any unusual changes in your home's condition.

Regular assessments help identify minor issues before they develop into major problems. Maintaining documentation of these inspections also provides valuable records for insurance purposes or future sale considerations.

Search for inspectors with certifications from recognized professional organizations in your state. Specialized training or experience with manufactured housing is particularly valuable for these unique structures. Ask potential inspectors about their familiarity with HUD standards for manufactured homes. Professional membership in industry associations often indicates commitment to ongoing education and ethical standards. Request sample reports from prospective inspectors to evaluate their thoroughness and clarity of communication.

Many insurance providers consider inspection results when determining policy rates and coverage terms. A positive report demonstrating well-maintained systems and the absence of hazards may qualify you for better rates. Addressing issues identified during inspection demonstrates proactive maintenance that insurers often reward. Some companies offer specific discounts for homes that meet certain safety and structural standards.

Contact your insurance provider before scheduling an inspection to understand exactly what documentation they require for potential premium reductions.
