"Jason arrived on time and did a very thorough and informative inspection. The report is a valuable reference about our new home, with photos and recommendations. The price was within the expected range."

"J May Home Inspections is probably the best in New England. All aspects of the inspection were done in a timely, efficient, knowledgeable, professional manner. Mike first provided a summary of the relevant issues and then quickly followed up with a comprehensive report. The price was fair and the inspection done to the highest standards. He patiently and clearly answered all questions during the walkthrough of the home and property. I would recommend J May Home Inspection and Milke to anyway needing a home inspection in this area."

Customers say: Quick response

"Stuart is professional, thorough, responsive and very knowledgeable. He patiently answered all of our questions throughout the inspection and we left feeling like we had a great understanding of the home we're buying. As for the inspection report itself, I intend to reference it for months and years to come as I prioritize improvements. Stuart was also able to turn the report around quickly to accommodate the timelines of our purchase. I would 100% recommend him to anyone in need of home inspection services."

"Joe Hennelly and his excellent crew did a fantastic job on our roof replacement, from start to finish. First of all, communication with Joe was great, from the initial phone call to the day of the job and throughout the job. The crew knows exactly what it's doing and worked quickly, efficiently, and professionally. They took great care to protect our home and yard from debris as they stripped the roof. Perhaps most impressive to me was their cleanup: after they were gone, I looked long and hard around the property for any debris they might have missed, and found none! Honestly, there was no evidence in my yard that a roofing job was done at all -- except that the new roof looked great. They truly left things better than they found them. The price was very fair, the work was excellent, and the experience dealing with Joe and his crew was top notch. Highly recommended!"

"Jake and power did a top job with my window install. He was incredibly pleasant to talk to. The presentation inspection was helpful to get me started. Jake gave me sound advice with what should be done before i put the house on the market. The crew worked hard in the cold to finish the install in one day. They look great! I highly recommend!"

"Joe met with me to discuss the replacement of the vinyl siding to the front of my home. Joe pointed out the difference between the siding on my home and the "typical" siding being installed on homes today. Joe worked up an estimate that covered all possible costs for replacing the siding with the proper materials and still came in over $1k LESS than the next company i contacted for an estimate. After signing the contract to get started I met with Dave (the on site lead) and went over the work to be done and answered any questions he had. Dave and his crew or two were punctual, courtesy, professional, detailed and did an excellent job. The repair did not go as smoothly as we had planned for because after removing some old siding from our garage area, Dave uncovered some water damage that had caused the plywood to rot down to the studs. The cost to repair the water damage was much less than I thought it would be. The entire job, to include the water damage, was completed in 3 business days and at a reasonable cost for all involved. It was a pleasure to work with Joe, Dave and their team."

"Estimate was quick and simple. Didn't try and sell me too much such as doing the whole roof at a discount (which others did), and advised against extra work I asked about due to it making worse past issues with ice dams. Took care of everything else themselves. Followed up with me; but didn't try and chase me down for sale either which was nice. Price was good and very competitive, considering many places only do a full roof (other half was done with a new addition 5 years before). Scheduled a few weeks in advance and came on days and times scheduled. Payment was simple and easy, and communications with support staff went well. Only reason for not giving them an A is they missed a small part of a bay window they said they would do to match up with other shingles and seemed to leave in a rush as they left a couple of tools and extension cords there. Also did a good job cleaning up; but wasn't spotless either and found a bunch of leftover nails on roof, driveway, and in bushes (less so old shingles). Just left extra shingles in pile by driveway door and didn't hear anything else from them on job. But after inspection and winter job seems well done and these are minor issues. Not enough to call about, just not A level. Would recommend them.

"I recently had insulation installed with Avid Energy, and the entire experience was outstanding from start to finish. The best part was that the insulation was installed at zero cost, which made a huge difference for our home and budget. The installation crew was professional and extremely efficient. They arrived on time, explained the whole process clearly, and made sure everything was completed neatly and thoroughly. The crew worked hard, cleaned up after themselves, and treated our home with care and respect. Since the installation, we’ve already noticed the house feels more comfortable and energy efficient. It’s great knowing we’ll also save money on heating and cooling costs moving forward. I highly recommend the Mass Save insulation program to anyone looking to improve their home’s comfort and efficiency."

FAQs for home inspection projects in Littleton, MA

Most mobile home inspections require two to three hours to complete properly. The timeline varies based on your home's size, age, and overall condition. Inspectors need sufficient time to examine all major systems, document their findings, and compile their observations.

If the inspector discovers concerning issues that warrant deeper investigation, the process may take longer. For the most thorough assessment, try to schedule your inspection during daylight hours when visibility is optimal.

Pay close attention to water damage indicators like ceiling stains, warped flooring, or musty odors. Structural concerns, including uneven floors, sagging rooflines, or doors that won't close properly, suggest potential foundation issues. Electrical problems such as flickering lights, warm outlets, or outdated wiring present serious safety hazards.

Impromptu modifications or repairs performed without proper permits often signal deeper problems. Windows that don't seal properly may indicate structural shifting or water infiltration.

Yes, professional inspectors evaluate the foundation components and anchoring mechanisms during a thorough assessment. They examine support piers, blocks, and tie-downs for proper installation and condition. The inspection includes checking for appropriate ground clearance and adequate ventilation beneath the home.

Proper anchoring is essential for stability during adverse weather conditions. Foundation issues can affect everything from door alignment to plumbing function, making this a critical part of any comprehensive inspection.

Industry professionals recommend scheduling maintenance inspections every two to three years for manufactured homes. Homes in regions with extreme weather conditions may benefit from more frequent evaluations. Consider arranging an inspection after significant storms or if you notice any unusual changes in your home's condition.

Regular assessments help identify minor issues before they develop into major problems. Maintaining documentation of these inspections also provides valuable records for insurance purposes or future sale considerations.

Search for inspectors with certifications from recognized professional organizations in your state. Specialized training or experience with manufactured housing is particularly valuable for these unique structures. Ask potential inspectors about their familiarity with HUD standards for manufactured homes. Professional membership in industry associations often indicates commitment to ongoing education and ethical standards. Request sample reports from prospective inspectors to evaluate their thoroughness and clarity of communication.

Many insurance providers consider inspection results when determining policy rates and coverage terms. A positive report demonstrating well-maintained systems and the absence of hazards may qualify you for better rates. Addressing issues identified during inspection demonstrates proactive maintenance that insurers often reward. Some companies offer specific discounts for homes that meet certain safety and structural standards.

Contact your insurance provider before scheduling an inspection to understand exactly what documentation they require for potential premium reductions.
