"I donâ t usually do reviews, but this one is certainly deserved. I had a leak in my roof that became apparent by the brown watermarks on my ceiling. A friend of mine told me about Home Advisor. I visited the website, put in the roof/lead related information and chose five suggested contractors. Three of which reached out to me. The first two, although one better in price than the other, did not really satisfy my needs, one of which was not credible and I concluded he would definitely not do the job properly. I was prepared to go with the other company. Then I got the call from Daniel Roofing and based on my discussion with Daniel Roofing, there were some questions that I had not asked the other company. Like warranty, etc. After speaking with the other company, I totally made up my mind to go with Danial Roofing. My interest was in a roof â lay overâ . I negotiated with Daniel and was able to get the same price as that of the company I was prepared to go with prior to my discussion with Daniel Roofing. However, there was one GIANT and SIGNIFICANT difference. The other company had not mentioned a warranty regarding their work. Daniel Roofing offered a 10 year warranty!!! To make a long story shorter, Daniel Roofing came and inspected the job and suggested that a lay over may not be the best thing for me. I was a bit skeptical at first but my wife and I thought about it and decided to go with a â tear offâ and roof replacement. Quite frankly, although skeptical, an overflowing dumpster later, I was absolutely convinced that my wife and I made the right decision to rip up the existing roof and replace it with a 15 YEAR WARRANTY!!! The condition of my roof was ghastly. There were leaks on my roof as a result of water settling under the existing rubber roof. I had seen evidence of â someâ of these leaks, but I had not imagined that my roof looked the way pictures provided by Daniel Roofing showed. Daniel Roofing came with a crew of five, and it was all completed in one day. The crew cleaned up and left my home as they found it, and my roof? A universe apart from how they found that. Ironically, it rained the next day. Smiling. What a way to test Daniel Roofing roof installation. They pass. Give Daniel Roofing a call if you are still interviewing roofing companies. I didnâ t go wrong, I donâ t think you would. Thanks Daniel Roofing. This is a review well worth my time. God bless."

"Angstrom Testing used a moisture meter and found that one of the kitchen walls and an area of the kitchen ceiling in my mom's apartment were wet. Then they took an air sample in the kitchen and sent the sample to the lab to determine the level of mold in the air. After that, they made a cut into the wet area of the kitchen ceiling and found a dripping water pipe. The top side of the ceiling was black with mold. They also took a piece of sheetrock out of the top of the wet kitchen wall and found more mold on the back of the wall (yuck!!).
They called me two days later with the air test results, and they told me that the level of mold in the air was very high. They also told me that there was probably a connection between my mom's symptoms and high levels of mold in the air. Makes sense. They also told me that that my mom should stay upstairs with me and my husband until we get rid of the moldy ceiling and wall in her apartment.
A few days after they called, Angstrom emailed me a report with all of the details of what they did and found. In the report, they wrote recommendations and procedures that a mold removal contractor should follow to safely remove the mold and dry and treat the wood wall frames and wood ceiling. Since the level of mold in the air was so high, they said in their report that the kitchen air should be cleaned with an air cleaner and that the kitchen appliances, cabinets, and floor should be wiped down to get rid of all the mold spores that were laying around.
I really appreciated all the work they did and all of the advice that they gave me to help me and my mom. My mom is now living upstairs with me and my husband, and she says that she is already starting to feel better. Although my husband is not too happy (LOL). Great company! Thanks.

Ground water infiltration occurred through the concrete slab in two rooms on the ground floor of the house causing water damage and mold growth on the overlying flooring. The cause of the water infiltration appears to be associated with cracks and a crater in the concrete slab, which is believed to have been caused by pile driving work being performed during the construction of an adjacent building.
Mold in HVAC Coil Compartment
Construction/demolition work in an apartment unavoidably released high levels of dust that migrated into adjacent apartments. Dust containment methods, such as negative air filtration and poly sheeting, should have been used to prevent dust migration into adjoining spaces. Settled dust samples were collected from a table & curtain rod in a nearby apt, which revealed the presence of substantially elevated levels of silica and asbestos in the dust. Asbestos and silica are known carcinogens.

FAQs for home inspection projects in Middle Village, NY

Most mobile home inspections require two to three hours to complete properly. The timeline varies based on your home's size, age, and overall condition. Inspectors need sufficient time to examine all major systems, document their findings, and compile their observations.

If the inspector discovers concerning issues that warrant deeper investigation, the process may take longer. For the most thorough assessment, try to schedule your inspection during daylight hours when visibility is optimal.

Pay close attention to water damage indicators like ceiling stains, warped flooring, or musty odors. Structural concerns, including uneven floors, sagging rooflines, or doors that won't close properly, suggest potential foundation issues. Electrical problems such as flickering lights, warm outlets, or outdated wiring present serious safety hazards.

Impromptu modifications or repairs performed without proper permits often signal deeper problems. Windows that don't seal properly may indicate structural shifting or water infiltration.

Yes, professional inspectors evaluate the foundation components and anchoring mechanisms during a thorough assessment. They examine support piers, blocks, and tie-downs for proper installation and condition. The inspection includes checking for appropriate ground clearance and adequate ventilation beneath the home.

Proper anchoring is essential for stability during adverse weather conditions. Foundation issues can affect everything from door alignment to plumbing function, making this a critical part of any comprehensive inspection.

Industry professionals recommend scheduling maintenance inspections every two to three years for manufactured homes. Homes in regions with extreme weather conditions may benefit from more frequent evaluations. Consider arranging an inspection after significant storms or if you notice any unusual changes in your home's condition.

Regular assessments help identify minor issues before they develop into major problems. Maintaining documentation of these inspections also provides valuable records for insurance purposes or future sale considerations.

Search for inspectors with certifications from recognized professional organizations in your state. Specialized training or experience with manufactured housing is particularly valuable for these unique structures. Ask potential inspectors about their familiarity with HUD standards for manufactured homes. Professional membership in industry associations often indicates commitment to ongoing education and ethical standards. Request sample reports from prospective inspectors to evaluate their thoroughness and clarity of communication.

Many insurance providers consider inspection results when determining policy rates and coverage terms. A positive report demonstrating well-maintained systems and the absence of hazards may qualify you for better rates. Addressing issues identified during inspection demonstrates proactive maintenance that insurers often reward. Some companies offer specific discounts for homes that meet certain safety and structural standards.

Contact your insurance provider before scheduling an inspection to understand exactly what documentation they require for potential premium reductions.
