"Davon from NextDay Inspect did a very thorough inspection of the home. The day of Davon explained what to expect during the inspection, providing us a verbal summary as he completed review of each section of the home. The report he completed was detailed reiterating the issues he came across noting the risk to the home and health. The report also linked to clear photos of the issues."

"Chris was efficient, clearly knowledgeable, and a delight to work with. I've hired many home inspectors over the years and he would be my first call the next time I need an inspection."

"Very pleased with preview inspection and workers. One door a bit off kilter that I did not notice because I forgot to close while workers were still here. Living with it as my problem for forgetting to reschedule return. Neat, organized, careful of my home. The one odd cut was only problem. Four 38 yr old wood doors removed and replaced with white wood doors and handicap knobs. (Computer and Angie's page not compatible so original review never accepted/posted.)"

"These guys were great. Hugh came out and did an inspection of our roof with pictures that he showed me. Gave us several options, and was very prompt to schedule the roof replacement we picked. They were in and out in a day. After it was all done, they provided pictures of the finished work. When I noticed that the roof was not painted a reflective color, Hugh offered to send someone over to do that free of charge (it was never in the contract). Very prompt all around, and very professional, I would definitely recommend these guys if you live in DC."

"When I called the company, they came to my house within 30 minutes to do an estimate because I told them I had open holes in my roof. Ben came and made me feel confident in his abilities to assess the roof and recommend the best roof for me. The workmen came and put the roof on quickly and meticulously cleaned up after themselves. A snow storm was predicted in 2 days, and another man from the company came before the snow to check and be sure everything was taken care of and solid. They also installed a ridge vent. I highly recommend this comapny. My roof is beautiful and definitely adds value to my home."

"In one word, AWESOME! My wife and I are extremely happy that we chose Chevy Chase Remodeling. I had other contractors to bid for the job but Steven DePollar, Chevy Chase Remodeling guaranteed that I would be very happy with the results and no others would say.those words. My family is saying what an amazing job and I should have the house appraised because my value just tripled. The contractor crew led by Mr. Salvador was nothing short of outstanding he was not satisfied with just good enough everything had to be perfect and for me that is what I was paying for perfection. From the first time that I contacted Mr. DePollar from Angies list he has been in good communication with me and made excellent recommended suggestions towards updating this Old house. I am so happy we listened to his expertise because we realized this is what he does for a living. I have another project coming up and Chevy Chase Remodeling will definitely be my contractor. I would strongly recommend Chevy Chase Remodeling to anyone looking for an excellent contractor.

FAQs for home inspection projects in Anacostia, DC

Most mobile home inspections require two to three hours to complete properly. The timeline varies based on your home's size, age, and overall condition. Inspectors need sufficient time to examine all major systems, document their findings, and compile their observations.

If the inspector discovers concerning issues that warrant deeper investigation, the process may take longer. For the most thorough assessment, try to schedule your inspection during daylight hours when visibility is optimal.

Pay close attention to water damage indicators like ceiling stains, warped flooring, or musty odors. Structural concerns, including uneven floors, sagging rooflines, or doors that won't close properly, suggest potential foundation issues. Electrical problems such as flickering lights, warm outlets, or outdated wiring present serious safety hazards.

Impromptu modifications or repairs performed without proper permits often signal deeper problems. Windows that don't seal properly may indicate structural shifting or water infiltration.

Yes, professional inspectors evaluate the foundation components and anchoring mechanisms during a thorough assessment. They examine support piers, blocks, and tie-downs for proper installation and condition. The inspection includes checking for appropriate ground clearance and adequate ventilation beneath the home.

Proper anchoring is essential for stability during adverse weather conditions. Foundation issues can affect everything from door alignment to plumbing function, making this a critical part of any comprehensive inspection.

Industry professionals recommend scheduling maintenance inspections every two to three years for manufactured homes. Homes in regions with extreme weather conditions may benefit from more frequent evaluations. Consider arranging an inspection after significant storms or if you notice any unusual changes in your home's condition.

Regular assessments help identify minor issues before they develop into major problems. Maintaining documentation of these inspections also provides valuable records for insurance purposes or future sale considerations.

Search for inspectors with certifications from recognized professional organizations in your state. Specialized training or experience with manufactured housing is particularly valuable for these unique structures. Ask potential inspectors about their familiarity with HUD standards for manufactured homes. Professional membership in industry associations often indicates commitment to ongoing education and ethical standards. Request sample reports from prospective inspectors to evaluate their thoroughness and clarity of communication.

Many insurance providers consider inspection results when determining policy rates and coverage terms. A positive report demonstrating well-maintained systems and the absence of hazards may qualify you for better rates. Addressing issues identified during inspection demonstrates proactive maintenance that insurers often reward. Some companies offer specific discounts for homes that meet certain safety and structural standards.

Contact your insurance provider before scheduling an inspection to understand exactly what documentation they require for potential premium reductions.
