"Jason showed up early and was extremely detailed on our home inspection. He completed the report with photos of the entire property the same day. He also outlined tasks that need to be done in short and long term periods. We had a really great experience with him and would recommend him to anyone!"

Customers say: Super punctual

"Mike Atwell of J May Home Inspection recently inspected my new condo. He was extremely helpful from our first phone conversation and throughout the inspection. He was very punctual and spent three hours looking closely at every feature of my home. He did not rush, answered my questions and patiently explained how many of the systems and features work. He sent me a detailed, preliminary report within 24 hours, and quickly followed up with a final report by US mail. My realtor said she had never seen such a comprehensive inspection report. Mr. Atwell is a consummate professional, with more than 20 years' experience as a home inspector, building consultant, teacher, former president and VP and active board member of the American Society of Home Inspectors. He is committed to educating and protecting consumers and is driving legislation to do so. Read: [*** Link removed ***] I highly recommend J May Home Inspection."

Customers say: Quick response

"Stuart is professional, thorough, responsive and very knowledgeable. He patiently answered all of our questions throughout the inspection and we left feeling like we had a great understanding of the home we're buying. As for the inspection report itself, I intend to reference it for months and years to come as I prioritize improvements. Stuart was also able to turn the report around quickly to accommodate the timelines of our purchase. I would 100% recommend him to anyone in need of home inspection services."

"Great customer service. Very accommodating. Was willing to come back out at no extra charge to complete the inspection on a separate day. The price was comparable or better than other home inspectors I looked at. Overall I was very happy withe the service that I received. I would definitely use his service in the future if I ever need another home inspection. I would recommend his service to anyone looking to get a home inspection."

"
  • I had a ceiling leak in my three-decker and it seemed to be coming from the roof. I left messages with several roofers, but received no call backs over a couple of days. I called Hennelly & Sons and Joe Hennelly actually answered the phone. Within 30 minutes after the call they were up on my roof in Somerville inspecting it. They found a two foot long split  that developed in the roofing material.  They dried it out and made the repair. They were thorough, the work was done right at a good price, and they were very professional to deal with. They told me the roof still had plenty of life left in it. I will certainly call them when its time to do a replacement job based on this positive experience.

"Power Home Remodeling knocked on our door one day and we decided to have an estimate on our roof. Andrew and Bobby came out to inspect our roof and give us an estimate. They were very knowledgeable and professional. We decided to use Power to install our roofing system. They came out a week later, everyone was on time and we are very pleased to have chosen Power."

"They explained in detail to  me why  installation of existing roof failed. They showed me detailed comparisons of all bidders specs and the reason for  different estimates. I was was sold by all the time and effort they took to work with me. The clincher was their integrity, honesty and approach.  It was important to them that I would be happy if they did the job . There crew was the most professional, courteous and respectful I have ever had in my yard. The owner came by many times unannounced and inspected everything. I have had 2 very minor situations and they addressed them "no charge". The second one was this week. As soon as I called they were scheduling to get on the roof and re-mediate. I have never left feedback - ever- on anything, yet I find myself 2 years later extremely happy with their quality of product and personnel. To Troy and the gang- thank you. I will keep you on speed dial!

FAQs for home inspection projects in Stoneham, MA

Most mobile home inspections require two to three hours to complete properly. The timeline varies based on your home's size, age, and overall condition. Inspectors need sufficient time to examine all major systems, document their findings, and compile their observations.

If the inspector discovers concerning issues that warrant deeper investigation, the process may take longer. For the most thorough assessment, try to schedule your inspection during daylight hours when visibility is optimal.

Pay close attention to water damage indicators like ceiling stains, warped flooring, or musty odors. Structural concerns, including uneven floors, sagging rooflines, or doors that won't close properly, suggest potential foundation issues. Electrical problems such as flickering lights, warm outlets, or outdated wiring present serious safety hazards.

Impromptu modifications or repairs performed without proper permits often signal deeper problems. Windows that don't seal properly may indicate structural shifting or water infiltration.

Yes, professional inspectors evaluate the foundation components and anchoring mechanisms during a thorough assessment. They examine support piers, blocks, and tie-downs for proper installation and condition. The inspection includes checking for appropriate ground clearance and adequate ventilation beneath the home.

Proper anchoring is essential for stability during adverse weather conditions. Foundation issues can affect everything from door alignment to plumbing function, making this a critical part of any comprehensive inspection.

Industry professionals recommend scheduling maintenance inspections every two to three years for manufactured homes. Homes in regions with extreme weather conditions may benefit from more frequent evaluations. Consider arranging an inspection after significant storms or if you notice any unusual changes in your home's condition.

Regular assessments help identify minor issues before they develop into major problems. Maintaining documentation of these inspections also provides valuable records for insurance purposes or future sale considerations.

Search for inspectors with certifications from recognized professional organizations in your state. Specialized training or experience with manufactured housing is particularly valuable for these unique structures. Ask potential inspectors about their familiarity with HUD standards for manufactured homes. Professional membership in industry associations often indicates commitment to ongoing education and ethical standards. Request sample reports from prospective inspectors to evaluate their thoroughness and clarity of communication.

Many insurance providers consider inspection results when determining policy rates and coverage terms. A positive report demonstrating well-maintained systems and the absence of hazards may qualify you for better rates. Addressing issues identified during inspection demonstrates proactive maintenance that insurers often reward. Some companies offer specific discounts for homes that meet certain safety and structural standards.

Contact your insurance provider before scheduling an inspection to understand exactly what documentation they require for potential premium reductions.
